Harry Potter 5 (Umbridge's Proclamations)

@zeeky5678 how are your proclamations going?

They're going well. I just have to make a few last minute touches though before I consider them complete. I kind of got side tracked doing Prop Replicas for "The Lovely Bones" (Abigail's California Postcard and Mr. Harvey's Newspaper Articles) and some additional "Umbridge-Themed" Props from Harry Potter 5 (The O.W.L. Exam In Progress Board and Harry's detention Note from Umbridge (Not seen in the film, but it was made anyways, I guess it got cut)) but I'll probably get back to these later today!

still concidering the free paper forum??

Okay guys, well I've also found ANOTHER 3 Proclamations to replicate, which will bring my grand total to 18 Proclamations. Now here's the thing, I'm CONSIDERING putting at MOST 5 of the 18 in the Free Paper Props Thread, but if I do they'll probably be the ones that're more well known, the lesser known ones / One not even seen in the movie (but I know exsist) I'd like to keep to myself at least until I can post in the junkyard or something. So if alot of guys want them i'll have to make a few last minute tweaks to them, but I'll post them sometime this week. Again, I apologize for not getting right back to these, but I found myself doing other props from another movie (Much less popular apparently) as well as some more from Harry Potter 5. Two of which are "Umbridge Related" actually, so I may just do an Umbridge set in Free Paper Props. If so it'll include:
-Proclamation 23
-Proclamation 68
-Proclamation 82
-Proclamation 98
-Proclamation 119
-O.W.L. Examination Board
-Note to McGonagal from Umbridge regarding Harry's behavior in class (This was cut from the movie, but it was made)

So what do you guys think?

Sounds awesome. Really looking foward it :)

Thanks :D. Well after this my short term projects will be MANY things from Weasley's Wizard Wheezes from "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" as i've already started on quite a few things from it, and Mr. Harvey's Newspaper Articles, Pages From Mr. Harvey's Sketchbook, and A New Version of Susie Salmon's Photos Set all from "The Lovely Bones". My LONG term project will be creating a FULL O.W.L. Exam from "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix", all the replicas i've seen are just the center portion, but i'm going to attempt the ENTIRE thing so that should be fun.

Thanks for checking out these Proclamation replicas! I might do a run of the ENTIRE set on the proper paper, and everything (Unfortunately no display boards though as I lack those resources) in the Junkyard whenever I get the proper privledges.

I did once post a proclamation, but people just trashed it...:lolBut I didn't take it personally because I reckon I'm not an expert like you are:).

Really? I looked and couldn't find the thread. Got a link?

And do remember, the expert in anything was once a beginner.

Hi! After it was trashed, I tried to erase the post, but as you cant delete posts(or at least I don't know how to), I edited it and wrote "aaaaaa". If you don't don't believe me, check it out and you'll see it was edited in February... http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?p=1126566#post1126566 . As for your comment on how the experts were also begginers, thanks :)! Oh, and you can see the original post quoted in the next post!

Aw, they shouldn't have trashed it like that. You should've seen my first attempt at the proclamations. PATHETIC. But that was like 2 1/2 years ago, before I had gotten alot more graphic art experience. See here's a comparison:

See how much better I got? Don't feel bad, I started somewhere too :D Once you have more experience you'll get better and better. Trust me. :D Oh, and I actually re-did the proclamations from the first post just a bit, and added some finishing touches, Fixed the missing fonts, and made sure everything was as close as possible. So, I should have 5 of the 19 Proclamations I have up for grabs in the Free Paper Prop thread, and I may do what you did and make the proclamations available for a limited time only, then repost them again later, that was a VERY good idea. Well, you should Expect "Order of the Phoenix~Umbridge Paper Prop Set" Up here in the next hour or so!

The nice thing about doing something like the Proclamations is that you only have to find the right fonts -- the rest is just layout and sizing.

Good job! :thumbsup

Yup, that is precisely why I started by Prop making with these, It ended end being harder than you think, because there are still some fonts to this day that i dont know, and i had to draw them by hand. So yeah. It had a bit more work then you think, but it's still not too extremely hard, it's tracking down references that are hard.

Sorry if that came off as belittling your work -- it was meant more to give Jopeadro encouragement. Believe, I know it's not THAT easy. But starting with the right fonts and good placement is the way to creating at least a passable paper piece.

For fun I'll sometimes print off reference photos and just make a game of discovering the fonts. I think I have found all the fonts for the proclamations.

I started a discussion of the borders on my own forum. Did you retrace your borders from reference or did you use a base border? It seems the same borders can be found on most of the OotP props.

I remember seeing this at the exhibition you did get the Bla bla bla balbal...
at the way bottom right.

Yep, I got all the detials, I originally wanted to remove it, but I added it back on in the end while i was re-tweaking them to keep them as accurate as possible.

Thank you for taking the time to make these! You've done an amazing job. Are you planning on doing any more Potter props?
