Harrison Ford on Shia LaBeouf

I would call Shia that even without the things he said about Spielberg.

The best part of Shia Labeouf ran down his moms leg.

Hehe, the first comment I read in that article,
"why do hipsters like Harrison Ford?
because he's indie."

Kids today..........what are you gonna do? Here is my take.

Harrison Ford has a resume that is remarkable. Even some of his bad films are decent.

Shia Lebouf is in Transformers.

I rest my case your honor.

Shia is his own worst enemy. He's slowly killing his own career and frankly the Indy franchise needs him about as much as the Transformers franchise.

Meh, I am in the camp that really wants one last GOOD Indy film so I liked his remarks because they are baiting to Spielberg to make that happen.

i give Shia a tiny bit of credit for admitting he could have done better in the film. At least he manned up a bit but still you don't go bashing your bosses no matter how bad it was.

lol Shia mysteriously vanishes and in 20 years they find him stuffed in the Ark of the Covenant.

I think he's getting sick of the blockbuster stuff and probably wants to do smaller films.

I also think he was (probably) right about Indy 4.

And I think Ford was right about him being an idiot for HOW he went about saying what he said (even though I think the article linked above doesn't sound as critical of Spielberg as people make it out to be). Basically, I think that most long-time A-listers would agree that when you make a bad movie, you have to wait at least 5-10 years before you bash it, and when you do, you do so in a more circumspect way.

I'm sure this happens more often than not. I can't believe that every actor loves or even likes the experience or the resulting film that is made. I guess most people either don't talk about it or only focus on the positive aspects to the film.

Like him or hate him, you can't really disagree with the things he's said.
(I mean you can but then that means you probably like the transformers films, indy 4, and the sw prequels and therefore have really bad taste.) :p

Good for him for not being afraid to say what everyone else is afraid to (including Ford).
Sounds like Ford is trying to basically say, "don't bite the hand that feeds you kid". You can almost hear him saying it.
There was a time when Ford used to push back in an effort to make his films better.

I agree with Ford though, as an actor you get paid a crapton of money to appear in a film, and therefore it's part of your job to support said film. After a few years, yea write a memoir or something, but don't blast your boss when the movie is still in the theaters.

Megan Fox did that, and now look at the awesome career she has :lol

Steve Martin is one of my favorite examples of how to handle the "bad movie" syndrome. Someone asked him what he thought of The Pink Panther 2 and how it had kinda tanked, and he said " I really enjoy the painting it bought ". Simple, elegant, and no need to trash talk the bosses or the writers or anyone else.

I would almost agree with that if LaBeef had any acting chops. So...what have we seen him play DIFFERENTLY? At least with Ford, he has some skills. Granted, he usually plays roles that fit with the Solo/Indy model, but he does have some range to his acting. LoBeif on the other hand...

No offense to Harrison Ford but didn't he once say "You can type this **** George but you can't say it" about a certain sci fi film NOBODY would think would be any good at the time it was filmed. And he didn't want to touch the Indy4 script for years because the story George Lucas produced wasn't right for Indiana Jones character . Ten years ago he was spot on the money and he said so.A decade on and he wasn't so picky. I wish he had been.
Perhaps IF he and Steven Spielberg had pushed we would have got a better film instead of the one with flying fridges, stupid monkey swings, rubber snakes and transdimensional computerised grey escapies from the SW prequels. Harrison Ford is not well known for tolerating idiots and poor dialogue, but easy to work with? Remember "Bladerunner" Harrison. Didn't he have a running feud during and after the filming with Ridley Scott about possibly one of the best sci fi movies of all time? And he hardly promoted the film well or threw himself into supporting it at the time of release if I recall rightly.
So its a bit rich listening to that criticisim of LaBeouf. Be ****ing honest ,do you think he was wrong? He said it diplomatically, he was constructive, he was polite and you could tell he felt as bad about those scenes as we did watching them. If anyone at his age was lucky enough to get into those mega budget films with those directors you would think he wouldn't dare say a word so it takes a lot of self honesty and balls to do it. Whatever you think of the kid you've got to admire him for saying it. He'll never carry the mantel, for there was only one Indiana Jones. I'm just a little embarissed for Harrison that he came down so hard on the kid.

PS I had to laugh. Just below that interview is another one where HF really kicks films for using too much CGI (and this was posted in May 2011 way ahead of the "C and A" openning.

"Harrison Ford criticises modern action films' CGI reliance 'Star Wars' veteran believes effects make films 'soulless'

Harrison Ford has laid into modern action films for relying too heavily on CGI effects. Ford made his name with roles in the Star Wars and Indiana Jones films, but he says that the reliance on digital techniques has served to alienate audiences in recent years.

He told the Los Angeles Times: "I think what a lot of action movies lose these days, especially the ones that deal with fantasy, is you stop caring at some point because you’ve lost human scale. With the CGI, suddenly there’s a thousand enemies instead of six - the army goes off into the horizon. You don't need that."

Ford continued: "That's something that’s constantly happening, and it makes these movies like video games and that’s a soulless enterprise. I don't have time for that."

Ford can next be seen opposite Daniel Craig in Cowboys And Aliens, due for release in the UK on August 12.

Go Harrison!!! Obviously Cowboys and Aliens is going to be an effect free classic from the John Wayne days of cinema Westerns!
I think not.

I do have to agree with Shia LeBouf statement that his acting was horrible during the swinging from the vines with the monkey scene. That piece of thespian greatness was not up to par with his other great scenes in Transformers and Wall Street.

He should have taken that scene to the next level perhaps mating with one of the monkeys ore letting out a Tarzan like cry or even wearing a loin clothe obtained from slaying a tiger or cougar.

I was disappointed by his acting in that scene. Very disappointed! He needs to get into The Method and refine his acting skills!

OK I hate to even bring this up but has anyone ever seen the old show Shia was in called Even Stevens? The kid CAN act he was brilliant on that show. I think he has just gotten too big for his britches and badmouthing Spielberg is a sure fire way to not work in Hollywood again.

If you want to say something to him, say it to him, not through the media. Guts yes, brains not so much

Thats exactly why it was so admirable. He put his career at possible risk to say what he believed in and come clean with the audience about his feelings.

With so many actors playing the PR game constantly and lying thier asses off by staying positive about a film and trying to sell it to audiences even when it is clear that the movie is a piece of crap, it is really amazing to see one just drop the act and be honest about how he feels.

Bah!

What would REALLY take balls is after reading the script and seeing how much money they are offering you for a part THEN you tell them to **** off!
