HAPPY 30th ANNIVERSARY ESB!!!

TESB props, at least from a studio scale point of view, are my main passion, and its the pinnacle of the Trilogy for me.
TESB shaped the way i look at models today, i still remember seeing Hoth for the first time as a child, the mini's built were amazing, and so much a huge leap from ANH, theres sooo much going on.
This part of the saga introduced so many new models it still blows my mind, some of them only seen for mere seconds, but leaving a VERY large impact in my mind, the Probe droid pods for one spring to mind, and the Hoth stop motion ATST, all valid reasons for me building them.
Im even building an ATAT driver helmet in white, for the very reason its how i saw it as a child.
Other props on my list, well of course the Rebel Transport, and later the Ion cannon, but then i really love the lesser seen stuff and a lot of that, comes from TESB, there are still props we havent seen, such as some of the ships from the Rebel Fleet....that pains me lol.

Please forgive the crudeness of this, here is my continuing work in progress on my ESB Boba Fett display, I have just sold this helmet as I wanted to get the paint scheme more accurate, believe me its a labour of love despite being very tedious at times, I remember so well as a child sitting upright when Boba Fett was seen on screen for the first time, myself and my brother instantlly decided he was the coolest guy we'd ever seen, I guess he is the reason I got interested in Collecting/making Star Wars props, great thread Gino and some of the contributions here have been great to read :thumbsup

Hands down best lightsaber fight in any SW movie. Longer and more intense then ANH, more action then ROTJ- any more heart then the PT duels.

People talk about the EP3 duel but it's nothing compared to Luke vs Vader in ESB.

I second that.(y)cool

And in this movie is my all times favourite set: the horrible meditation chamber

Two things that make ESB the best film are:

1. The cinemaphotography and lighting is excellent. The lights in the enviroment of the sets lights the scenes and actors. Lots of great light details everywhere - gives the space credibility.

2. The production design - ESB is the finest example of beautiful visual invention - which is completely linked to the narrative and purpose of the charachers.

It is an intelligently made film, clearly due to Lucas not being so involved in it. You have Kershner and John Barry to thank for the main success of it!

Time Lord Ten, nice ESB Suit, looks like you have a pair of my Fett Gloves as well! :thumbsup

Boba Fett is certainly not the only reason why ESB is my favorite SW movie, but definitely a major reason! As soon as he appeared on screne, I couldn't wait to see him again... "Who is that guy? What's his deal? Is he Human" Is he a Robot? His voice is really cool, is he some sort of Alien? Man, his armor is awesome, look at all his weapons and battle damage, he's got to be one major bad ass! Oh, he speaks his mind to Vader without any repercussions, YEAH, he's a bad ass, he's my favorite!" :love

Now you start layering everything else, where do you begin...

The Opening Act!

Han & Chewie tracking down the Probe Droid down, the out of nowhere Wampa attack, Han having to cut the Taun-Taun open, clever dialogue to go with, "And I thought they smelled bad... On The OOUTSIDE!!!" The Opening Battle scene with the AT-AT's! The frenzied escape for everyone and how it immediately created two completely separate movies in one... 1. Luke's journey to become a Jedi and 2. The survival of his friends without his help!

Nothing Goes Right!
The Millennium Falcon turns into a complete turd with no HyperDrive and the crew lands up almost getting swallowed by Moby Dick! Luke's X-Wing sinks in the swamp and he's really not having much luck learning The Force. C3PO gets completely dismantled. Han's incased in Carbonite, again, clever dialogue to go with, "Leia, I Love you! (Smart Ass Han) I Know!" And the grand finally, Luke get's his hand cut off by... HIS FATHER, WAIT! WHAT! REWIND!

I was ten years old when ESB came out and it was the first movie I watched where the the main heros, the good guys, repeatedly took a beating and nothing went their way! This created such intrigue to me because I was like, "What's going happen next? How are they going to get of this? Is the Empire going to Win?" I never expected any of it and as mentioned earlier, we had to wait another 3 years to find out, man, what a long 3 years!

ESB, other than ANH being the original idea and the inception of the whole SW phenomenon, is the best SW movie bar none! :thumbsup :thumbsup

ESB the best movie ever!

Thats why I had to have Jeremy Bulloch (Fett) in my movie as the main bad guy. The is filmed called 'Turpin' the trailer is here:

When we were and on set he was telling us all loads of stories of shooting ESB and ROTJ ...and ROTS! Great guy. I saw him recently at a troop in the National Space Centre in England and Jeremy put on his Boba Fett suit and started walking around with the rest of the stormtrooper it was amazing!!!!

+1

I like ESB because of one Vader is Badder in this movie. He's pretty Bad in ANH but He owns this movie. Two The Introduction of Boba Fett or as Vader said Bounty Hunter. The walkers, The snowspeeders. The Editing of the movie. and The Duel between Vader and Luke. All what makes this movie a thrill ride.

I'm sure it will be celebrated then as well. :thumbsup
I mean, come on, it's ESB. It totally deserves an extended celebration.

Try to explain why ESB is the best film in the entire SW series.

.

I'd have to say that there are too many reasons to list, but my a couple of things that come to mind right away include Lando and Artoo getting barfed.

Best Star Wars movie ever! I still remember coming home from school to watch the old VHS tapes everyday!
