Han Solo ESB + ANH all metal Blasters, step by step

Re: Han Solos DL-44 - metal Blasters

Having nothing i can do at my own version atm., i startet the ANH-one.

First drilling and tapping the bar
Bastelei064.jpg

Then disassembling the Mauser and drilling/tapping the body of the gun.
Bastelei065.jpg

Next was screwing a bolt in - cut to length, and secured with loctite "strong" (be sure it has the correct length before using loctite). I always use the cut side where it it not visible.
Bastelei066.jpg

In the time the loctite needs to harden, i ensured a proper fit with fixing it with the machined fasteners on the bolt, and a long screw in the other hole.
Bastelei067.jpg

The same procedure with the other bolt. As the material of the mag is much thinner, i beefed it up from the inside with a nut.
Bastelei068.jpg

Cutting and securing the middle bolt - and again the use od loctite "strong" (i use it on all bolts, but not on the fasteners - for the later dissassembly for painting).
Bastelei069.jpg

And again, securing it for a proper alignment with the fasteners, for the time the loctite needs to harden.
Bastelei071.jpg

And ready is the lower part of the mount.

Now i have to to a search for the missing ANH-parts. Metall would be prefered, but first class resin-casts (as a starship builder i can´t accept crappy casted parts) are OK, too.

I think CE is the way to go, resin-related? Or Droopydoos?

Re: Han Solos DL-44 - metal Blasters

Thanks.

Well, not much to see there - no hot chick in a bikini in my shop.

Only a man in the 40s with wide hips, working on a small lathe and a drill press.

Really appreciate you taking time to share pix of your wonderful shop. Believe it or not I learned a lot, and thanks for explaining what everything does.

The small shops are usually were the true craftsmen dwell and one can learn in small steps without worrying about deadlines and production output. We'll save the hot chicks in bikinis for later.

Your build is progressing beautifully, can't wait to see where you take us next.

Thats exactly what i was hoping fore.

I usually do these kind of step by step tutorials with my starship builds - just to encourage the people to not only buy my stuff (or kits from other), but to try to do their own scratchbuilds. :)

Yeah, but it is sometimes a little bit frustrating to work with the restrictions of such small machines, at least if you learned with the big machines in a professional shop (decades ago). But ... as long as it works, even if it takes much more time ... everything is fine, just in another way. ;)

Thanks a lot. :cool

To be honest .... i´m curious about it as well. :)
It will depend on the parts that are available

Re: Han Solos DL-44 - metal Blasters

The scopes arrived on Saturday! :love

The M19 for the ESB:

And the one for the Greedo Killer:

But as i havn´t started the GK yet, this scope will be stored away safe for some time.

Tony did a really good job. :cool

But let´s come back to the ESB. :)

I had to mount it immediatly, couldn´t wait.

I made the cutout on the scopemount, and did some milling on the pistons already - but made no aditional pics this morning. Next the small greeblies on the left side need to be made ..... and then i can start to blacken this beauty. :lol

Re: Han Solos DL-44 - metal Blasters

Not THAT much happened the last 2 days but .....

The scope-mount is ready:

And i started something new for the ANH Hero. First i ordered a resin scope as a backup, then i took the measurement of a Hensoldt

started some turning:

And now i´m here:

The started thicker end of the scope, and the started brass ring that holds the optics. Let´s hope it will look like a Hensoldt when i´m ready (if not .... there is still the ordered resin version :unsure)

Re: Han Solos DL-44 - metal Blasters

Thanks for showing the machining process. Its pretty much step by step directions.

Re: Han Solos DL-44 - metal Blasters

Thanks guys, i really appreciate your kind words. :)

Atm. i´m smiling like a fat child in the candyshop. :cool

Ack, those are all the EASY parts! Let's see you machine that cradle part with the rings!!! :love

Oh, not me - THAT part is planned to be outsourced. :lol

Thats better made on 3D-CNC - and i have a friend who has many of these big loud toys (delivers parts for Porsche/BMW/Mercedes and some yacht manufacturers).

First problem is to catch him between beeing stressed, and out of the company while racing some nice tracks - it took several months for me to get a pair of special made tow-hooks and the airshroud for my racetrack-toy, only. Second Problem is to have him stopped the money making process in one shift to make me my part. So, i already can assume it will take some time - after i deliverd him the drawings. :wacko
