You might be able to get it at a gun shop or order it online. That place you got the grips has it. The Denix isn't exaclty aluminum, it is a high zinc pot metal alloy. The Aluminum Black tends to leave a white haze on the Denix metal when you use it. I just wash it with a mild detergent and water and wipe it dry. Then I go over it with a dry rag with a little oil on it. Once you do that, the white haze will be gone and it will be blackened. I've used Aluminum Black to fully blacken or slightly age quite a number of props.

Thanks! That sounds like a great way to finish a denix.

When you say you rub oil on it, is it gun oil? And do you just put a touch on to kind of seal it, or is the whole thing oily to the touch then?

Well, I assume the Alu Black works like any other chemical "cold bluing" process. It's actually an oxidation process where the chemical reacts with the metal and literally oxidizes (rusts) it.
With cold blue for steel, you have to first rinse the piece once it achieves the desired color, then once it's dry, you apply a thin coat of gun oil to seal the metal's pores from oxygen.
If you just put bluing chemicals on steel, and don't stop the reaction, the metal will actually continue to rust.
I would think the white hazy look is residual corrosion on the Denix's pot metal. Not all metals "rust" per se, they oxidize in different ways. A white hazy film is very much like what oxidized aluminum looks like.

Yes, I usually use gun oil. Though I think I've used 3 in 1 in a pinch. It is just a extremely light coat. Your gun shouldn't be greasy, though that is how you usually receive a new Denix in the box.

I use a section of 3/4" copper pipe when I make my bull barrel. I try to chamfer it to match the three flat faces where it meets the top of the receiver. I usually use aluminum foil to build up the barrel before sliding on the tube and packing the ends and seam line with JB weld putty.

The Denix hammers is one of my pet peeves, so I usually reshape them with a Dremel. Gives a nicer "Mauser" profile, IMO.
