Thank you both. I am planning on molding this, so I can make a few.

I started building Yesterday. Here is the slide.

The frame.

The Magazine and extra parts.

And a fresh layer of bondo.

Right now I don't have plans for the Promethian weapons, but I do want to do some Covenant ones.


I spent most of the week, doing a bunch of fine sanding, and am pretty pleased with the results.

Next I will add the final details. Hopefully by mid week I can start molding.

Huge update!

So I wanted to grip to have the raised circles on it, and wanted them to have a rounded look, but didn't want to sand or mold them. So I took the thinnest plastic I had and cut out a bunch of circles.

Then I filled an empty glue bottle with some latex black paint, and applied it to each circle. Enough to make it bead up and give it a nice round surface.

Once the paint was dry I could peel each circle up.

Then apply them to the grip.

After a few extra parts, and some primer, the base model of the gun is 98% done.

Now I get to work on the scope part, and the ODST suppressor.

I actually made a BR a few years ago, and will be redoing a few parts later this year.

I would love to eventually make an energy sword. But I have too many other projects that I need to do first.


Update!

I made the scope from acrylic, and bondo. I used a belt sander to shape the scope. This was the only pic I grabbed.

Now it is completely finished.

Then comes the molding part. All of the mold boxes.

Molding the magazine well first.

And finally.

Just to give you an idea of how long it takes to make molds, I watched all 3 Lord of the Rings Extended cut movies during the whole process. :eek

There's a kind of resin with aluminum dust that works wonders for gun weathering. Matsuo (Matsucorp) uses it to amazing effect. Have you considered using it?

Is the Magnum held together with just friction, or are their going to be screws and springs? I'm especially curious about the magazine. Is it just squeezed into the magazine port?
