Halo UNSC Weapons By Justinian

Thank you all so much for the compliments. It really does help keep me on track when I have long days like the past few.

UPDATE TIME

So I completely underestimated this molding process. It has been a lot more work than I anticipated. But after pulling a few all nighters the molds are just about finished. Here are a few pics of where they are now.

I'll pour the last of the rubber tonight, and they should be all set in the morning to do some test pulls.

That's it for now.

Today I pulled the molds apart and cleaned them up. They turned out great.

I also did my first pull. I tinted the resin, and also used some silver powder on some of the parts.

Overall the mold worked perfect, and the detail was amazing. The only issue was me trying to roto cast by hand. I was rotating the molds as they cured, but unfortunately my rotating skills were not very good. The walls are very thin in some spots, and way to thick in others. I've decided that I need to build a machine that can rotate it evenly. Hopefully I can have some sort of design done tomorrow, and possibly start to build one. But for now it is very late, and I need to get some sleep. This project has kept me from a lot of sleep this week.

Sorry to have to keep you guys waiting longer for them to become available. I'm a perfectionist, and can't do anything sub par. So it puts production off another day or so, but in the long run production will go faster, and come out more perfect. And also I will have everything set up for future projects. :D

Thanks for looking.

Hey man, take your time. You've been doing such a great job so far, why not get it how you want it.
Looks great!

Thank you.

Today I was able to make a little something to help me out.

It's the roto casting machine I needed. :D It's about 90% complete, but the basic mechanics work great. I'm not sure if I'll be able to work later tonight to test it out with the resin.

Wow, I have been collecting parts for a rotocaster for years. And now here you are with one built in 10 minutes.:cool

Wow those pulls look awesome! Was gone for the weekend and am glad to see these looking good.

Perfection is a good goal to have and from what I've followed you'll hit it dead on!

I wish it took 10 minutes. I have actually been thinking about making one for a few weeks now, and did a bunch of research ahead of time.
There an interest thread for these in the JY yet?
There is an interest thread. http://www.therpf.com/f13/halo-3-assault-rifle-164134/

Thanks. The pulls did come out great. I was surprised at how good they were.
interested in how the roto will end up.
vid when you're done please?
This video is not mine, but it is the exact same design.

Slight update.
I have been looking all over town for the right bicycle chain and parts. Later today I will be going to another store, and hopefully then I will have the necessary parts to complete the roto caster. Then I will be able to cast up a bunch of perfect copies.

I also set up an interest thread in the Junkyard.

I also have all of the extra parts completed.

I also made a bullet for the magazine.

Awesome! Totally want one! Put in my interest on your thread too
Done.

Well I got the roto caster up and running. It took me forever to find the parts, but I got it working great. Then I ran into another problem. :x My molds are not the ideal shape for rotocasting. They are long and odd shaped. But I spent most of the day figuring out how to cast each part hollow successfully. I needed to make a second mold part for one of them, and that should be ready to try out in the morning. Hopefully by the end of the day I should have everything all worked out and ready to go.

I should also get a huge shipment of casting resin tomorrow. Anyone want to venture a guess as to what it is for? :D

nice work that rotocaster is genius!
It's actually not my idea. I found it with a google search, and modified it to be big enough for what I needed.
Looks like your Junkyard bound. :cool
Pretty soon. I'm getting excited.

Here's what I've been doing for the past few days.

And here's my graveyard. :(

I should have shipping priced out tomorrow. Then everything will be good to go.

I forgot to mention.

The butt had to be filled with urethane foam, but can easily be hollowed out for the trigger. I'm thinking I may have to do the same with the ammo counter/cowl. Thoughts?

Looking fantastic!
Can you offer any advise on filling the hollow casts with foam? I'm working on a pulse rifle from Farscape, and I was planning on rotocasting and maybe foam filling it for strength.
