Halo Reach: Skirmisher Build

Now that most of my con season is done, I can focus on the Skirmisher.
I didn't want to sculpt this one out of clay, so I decided to model the head in 3ds Max and go the Pepakura route instead. After fully gluing everything, I realized that the muzzle was too long and went back and removed some of the paper before reattaching.

My game plan for this build: the head will be mainly slush-cast plastic with some latex sections for the exposed pink parts, as well as for the interior of the mouth. Most of the armor will be done out of foam (the floor mats) and I've found some plans for digi-grade stilts based on the Weta versions that I plan on building.

With the con season over, I can get back to work on what has become my D*Con costume for next year.

I've decided to sculpt the details over the Pepakura "skull" and then cast them as a latex skin. Here, I've got most of the bigger shapes done. I just need to detail and clean it up, then repeat on the other side.

That is looking good. I am liking your progress. Very good idea sculpting over the pep. It is like having a scale base of what you are making to work from.
 
It's been a productive day! Decided to get two of the leg pieces for the stilts cut out and shaped. They are cut from 6mm sintra, shaped with a heat gun to my leg.

I also got some more sculpting on the head done and I'm playing around with textures now.

Little bit of progress on the Skirmisher... I've decided to have an actual eye instead of just something sculpted. This is just a temp eye though. I'll be going through the process of molding, casting, painting, and sealing to make a real looking pair of eyes.

This is looking really promising!

Will the eyes move?
Make sure the stand in eye is the same size as the eye you will use after the cast.

Do you think that you could wear that like you would wear the a xenomorph/alien mask? Were you wear the mask ontop of your head and see out of the neck?

You may have to raise the shoulder armour up to compensate for the long neck.

I really think doing that would have a better profile altering effect than over your face. Not to mention it would be easier to see. This is going to look wicked!
