Halliwax's first GRAFLEX build

What exactly is your question regarding the T-track? We know what T-track is generally used for, and where it likely came from.

What's the source of the profiles. They must have had a lot of it for all the props they've used it for. I wonder where they got it from. If it was cabinet door sliders, why nobody ever found it?

I'll ask a more general question, like "what real world item were the grips on the graflex lightsaber made from?" I wouldn't want to lead the discussion in any way.
Roger may not be familiar with the terms we use, and he may just remember what he got the grip material off of.

Please do!

It's the top post in my user comments list (the link I provided above). That is the only way I know how to link directly to what I posted, or you can see my post if you scroll down a bit in the AMA thread.

I'm fairly new to reddit, so if there is another way please enlighten me.

No more hijacking of Halliwas's thread, I'll reply in this thread. http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=241284

i don't mind it at all, I'm dying to read his reply to ur reddit question!!

Danny, I was serious about your T Tracks. None of the ones I've worked on have come out that well. And I've honestly done like four sets. I feel like I may stick to the Luke ANH from here on out so that I don't have to do the notches anymore haha.

I can't wait to see how you handle the beer tab (if you are taking it out). My Luke ESB has cuts in the tube by the rivet hole because I used wire cutting pliers to remove it. Talk about a rookie mistake! It can't even be passed off as "weathering". I have to tell people that Luke did the same thing first when he was updating his ANH to the ESB version.

thanks so much buddy, like I've said. I've watched and looked up to all you guys on here. you don't know how good it feels hearing all these great comments. i really appreciate it, if it wasn't for all of you and your trails and errors i wouldn't have gotten it done this easy, and appreciate all your help and information you have all posted publicly.

as for the beer tab i think she's staying for now, this graflex will be a TFA tribute, I'm pretty sure the beer tab is in the trailer, if it isn't then i plan on removing it like i the way i am going to remove my slide button on the bolsey. BIG file on the inside and file away the inside rivet until it falls out.

i want to get another replica (probably from roman) and due a ESB tribute, with jagged edge tracks and dirty as all hell lol

OMG! 2 weeks Mr. Christian already wrote this on reddit:

"..And there were these flash-handles.From an old press camera called a Graflex.
And I pulled one out, and just said "Oh my goodness, this is it."
And I bought the lot, raced back to the studios - and my set decorating room was FILLED with shelves of any bit of junk I found that was interesting, it was like a magpie's nest, and I had some rubber draft-excluder that was in T-shape, which I stuck on the Sterling sub-machine guns for the Stormtrooper weapons, and I stuck that to make it into a handle - I stuck seven of them around the end of it.
And I had an old calculator that I'd broken down, and I found a little strip of bubbles, like lenses, and those I stuck into the old grip of this flash-handle."

Really? Rubber?
Could it be this? Mini Cooper profile?

Roy, so this was softer rubber?

PS, got your package in the mail, thanks!

Well, rubber is rubber and plastic is plastic. But based on all the pictures from genuine T-tracks and people who held genuine props in their hands, I can't believe it's rubber. Unless the rubber hardened and became brittle. Very confusing. I'm planning on investigating that Mini Cooper profile at a local vintage English car repair shop soon I hope!
