HAL 9000 from 2001: a space odyssey

So is anyone actively working on getting a panel made to fit the Kenko lenses? I've got one here and I've been putting off a PC casemod in the HAL theme for quite some time.

What did everyone use for the logo decal and the silver rim in their panels?

ACCESS TO THE LM CENTER
ONLY UNDER EMERGENCY
CONDITIONS IN ACCORDANCE
WITH REGULATIONS LM 034 (just guessing there...)

MULTI APERTURE CORE
STORAGE --FOR MNEMONIC (or MIMETIC or MAGNETIC)
LOGIC APPLICATIONS ONLY

Looks very good.

I put the large test shot up on my screen and read it from across the room. Using my admittedly low-tech method, this looks right to me:

ACCESS TO THE LM CENTER
ONLY UNDER EMERGENCY
CONDITIONS IN ACCORDANCE
WITH REGULATIONS LM ???

MULTI APERTURE CORE
STORAGE -- FOR MAGNETIC
LOGIC APPLICATIONS ONLY

What about the text on the right side of the access panel in the same cap? Do we have a line on that yet?

Hey Tgraco & Phase Pistol.
Excellent work.
I'll have some replacement artwork up for everyone to check in a while.

I have processed the right text line the same way as this and have decoded some of the words. I'll post what I have of that later today. I have a hectic schedule today but hope to post before the evening (UK time).

THE COMPONENTS WITHIN ???? ????? OF LMC REQUIRE EXTERNAL
A-OK COMMAND TO RESTORE INFORMATION INTO ???????? ???????? ("prime memory" I think)

that's all I could make out

actually it says
Warranty void if opened by an unlicensed Dell Technician for upgrades
or hardware replacement. Call 1-800-Dude-your-getting-a-dell

Okay, I'm running late already.

I couldn't resist.

This is the DVD grab next to the official RPF translation.

Alright, to give everyone a fighting chance

here it is
a bit bigger

and here's a lovely twinkling, twinkling little version for comparions.

I know that I need to adjust some letter spacing. This would have been hand laid in Letraset so the spacing aren't machine perfect. I'm not far off. For the code at the end of the first paragraph I used LM 364. I know that I need to close the lettering on the word MULTI at the start of the second paragraph and increase the length of the hyphen.

As far as the other text is concerned, here's what I'm working with so far.

I stared at monitor until one eye cracked.

Would missing word be LOGIC ? I see maybe ??G?C maybe LOG?C

Not sure of second letter O/ D? or what if anything, is between what I percieve to be a G and C, I ?

edit: updated...

EXTERNAL could be INTERNAL...

PL-CN could be PC-101 or just about anything else I suppose...

Actually Heywood Floyd has this exact same problem, trying to make out the small print in these darn signs. :p

Love it. :lol

There is slightly more detail in the PAL DVD than the NTSC. I have enhanced the image as much as reasonably can. Any more and I start introducing artifacts rather than clearing it up.

I'm pretty confidant of EXternal and not sure about "introduce" or "restore".
I think you're probably right with "array" but I notice I forgot to correct it on the image. ... Next pass.

Curse you, higher PAL resolution... :angry :lol

Well I ain't re-buying all my darn NTSC DVDs...

Until the HD situation gets sorted out, anyway.. :$

Well I tried the previous blurring of our text. What do you think. Our reproduction text is the top and the bottom lines with the original image the center two lines.

sidetext.gif

Ir reads;

"DMD ELEMENTS WITHIN ?????? STATE OF LMC REQUIRE EXTERNAL
AI-CM CONTROLS TO INTRODUCE INFORMATION INTO CORE ARRAY"

I'm not sure that ARRAY is actually more correct than MEMORY, seeing it like this. I'm also not sure that this makes any kind of sense. In the first line, "STATE" looks correct but maybe if it is changed and paired with the currently missing previous word, we might have something with meaning.

I'm with Mike, "LOGIC STAGE" (or "STATE") would fit the bill.

Since we're just blue skying, it could even be LOGIC FRAME or LOGIC PATH if you want it to "scan" nicer (but not necessarily match the blurry screengrab).

I still think "RESTORE" instead of "INTRODUCE".

And I think ARRAY is correct, but kern the R-A-Y pretty tight (the default spacing is wide).

oh sure, now you post the upsized version... you'll be getting the bill from my optometrist :p

can you post a version this size with reversed values?

instead of state, see how it looks as STORE:
(EMU ELEMENTS WITHIN LOGIC STORE OF LMC REQUIRES EXTERNAL
MG43N CONTROLS TO RESTORE INFORMATION INTO CORE MEMORY)

Not = STORE I can make out STATE in original panel image

MG43N doesn't look right either left edge of "M" is verticle and the panel image clearly shows an "A" type angel.
Don't think RESTORE works over INTRODUCE either.

I like ARRAY...

try this, reversed some of it's very clear

the rest I hunted and pecked at til it looked kinda right... but it's just guess work

halbar2.gif

you might also want to try "SMO ELEMENTS" or 2MO
it's weird, it looks like it should be an O until you blur it...

and also try "A6-CX"

when reversed EXTERNAL and RESTORE and ARRAY become very clear

Good work tgreco. :thumbsup :D

I'd say go with

2MQ ELEMENTS WITHIN LOGIC STATE OF LMC REQUIRES EXTERNAL
N6-CX CONTROLS TO RESTORE INFORMATION INTO CORE ARRAY

... and to hell with the fact that it doesn't make any sense. :lol

Seriously tho, feels about right... not intended to be read on screen anyway.

Next up: EXPLOSIVE BOLTS.

I'm aggreeing wholeheartedly with "2MQ"

I didn't even think to try a Q

here's where I am on decoding this mess:

This is the back of the Pod, so I have to know, has anyone asked
