Finally finished off my HAL 9000, I've tried to make the kit about as simple as can be:
Entire backplate cast in black resin.
Surround to lens cast in white resin (painted silver)
Lens in clear resin. Painted black where necessary
Inner lens in clear resin.
single red LED, the small inner lens spreads the light and diffuses it.
Single HAL 9000 Decal.
I was going to make-up some lettering to go around the lens. I know that N I K K O R etc. is accurate, but I don't feel that's authentic, I feel fairly sure that HAL would have his own lens and the text around it should recognise that.
My original master was made using styrene sheet, foam, resin, cardboard, part of a globe, blood, sweat, tears etc.
