Guillermo del Toro's Cronos Device...digging in! COMPLETED

Re: Guillermo del Toro's Cronos Device...digging in! W.I.P

Thanks for asking!
A crystal making company has been located and the specs have been sent to them.
More detail is being added to the main body of the device and not long after the crystals arrive the body will be cast.
I'll post pics as they occur...shouldn't be much more of a wait!

Re: Guillermo del Toro's Cronos Device...digging in! W.I.P

Up-date: Just received this pic of the crystals (yes, actual crystals) fresh out of the Kiln. These will need to be ground and polished.
More pics when I have them.

Now we can go to final detailing of the big pieces and casting.

How'd I miss this thread, it's an amazing thing to see someone working in wax like this. I never saw the movie this is from but just the craftsmanship is impressive.

Re: Guillermo del Toro's Cronos Device...digging in! W.I.P

Thanks for looking guy's! This should be wrapped up here in the next few weeks!

Re: Guillermo del Toro's Cronos Device...digging in! W.I.P

Here's one more photo as I met with my jeweler today and did some test fitting of pieces before the final refining, texturing and polishing takes place.
It alway's struck me as odd that the first time the device in the movie clamps down on the shop keeper's hand that there was so much blood...now I understand why, these legs are sharp!

That's incredible. It really is quite beautiful.

Thanks guy's!
I should have some progress to post here by the week-end.

Re: Guillermo del Toro's Cronos Device...digging in! W.I.P

Wow! Very similar!
Remember though that Del Toro himself said that all 13 that were made for the movie (Cronos) disappeared right after the film finished shooting.
If one showed up on the market anywhere carrying a "screen-used" monicker,
I think there would be some serious repercussions.

I think that as Del Toro directed Blade 2, it's probably more likely that he was going to include the Cronos device as a nod to his earlier film - perhaps it was the device that originally turned Damaskinos (who was an ages old vampire Elder).

Anyways, looking forward to more pics. :)

Re: Guillermo del Toro's Cronos Device...digging in! W.I.P

That last pic is just..... I have no words. Awesome. That's the best word I could think of.

Re: Guillermo del Toro's Cronos Device...digging in! W.I.P

Hey Shiny! I know, right? That last pic I'm just holding the pieces together with my hand too! It's getting cleaned up and refined from here so everything will fit together and look much better soon.
Howlrunner- I had forgot that he directed that!
I wonder why he didn't just include an actual Cronos device? He claims that he still has the molds for it but has never taken the time to have it cast up again. I'm curious if you spotted the Angel Statue from Cronos in Hell-Boy?
I jumped out of my chair when I saw it!

Re: Guillermo del Toro's Cronos Device...digging in! W.I.P

With the main pieces mostly polished, this will be molded up tomorrow.
Here you can see the fit and low profile of the stinger in it's carriage which WILL be hinged in two places.
