Green lantern getting Horrible reviews!

In summary, this movie isn't so much a movie, but more like movie loaf. It's a product made up of other good and bad movies that even on their own did a much better job at focusing on character, conflict and over all common sense.

Saying that Green Lantern "stole" from other movies is like saying Anne Rice stole the idea of a child vampire from Lost Boys.

Although, honestly, what is Green Lantern if not superhero Lensmen?

I wasn't making those points to claim that Green Lantern stole from those movies. I did it to clarify that I've seen it all done before, and a lot of those movies did them better. This movie simply relies too much on the basics but does not offer anything that would make repeated viewings rewarding.

In this movie's case? A contrived, incoherent superhero Lensmen. It takes a little more than being defined in a genre to peak my interest.

I saw it yesterday but I thought that it was a bit compressed. They could've expanded a whole lot more especially on some of the other characters.

I'm a bit piked by the look of the lantern. I wanted it to look like a metal old school lantern. Other design choices have been pecking away at me also.

I enjoyed this flick. It was EASILY worth the matinee price, with popcorn. Then again, I was a huge comic nerd, so to see all of these comic movies FINALLY seeing light and being good flicks...it makes me smile.

I am also not getting the hate. Would you rather see a GOOD comic book movie, with an original idea(Granted, these characters are decades old) or would you rather see one more remake of the Poseidon Adventure?

Seriously, the ONLY complaint I have about this movie is...well, odd. How come GL gets to fight some villain who can actually destroy the planet and potentially the universe yet Superman, the strongest hero in the Justice League gets to deal with what is essentially a smart mob boss?

And now, here's Sinestro with a special message regarding all the people that are giving his movie horrible reviews...

I saw it, I thought Reynolds was pretty good in it. The stuff on Oa was pretty interesting, but I didn't really care about all the stuff on Earth until the battle at the end. I especially didn't care for the daddy issues subplot. In the end, it was decent. It wasn't the best comic based movie, but far from the worst.

Now I went in to this with only a basic knowledge of the character, so maybe I'm off in how it should be done.

I really enjoyed it. I admit. I thought this film was going to be horrible and the trailer didnt do this film justice. It was actually pretty good.

It had hot girl, good action, good special effects, and overall entertaining film

However, kinda getting tired of the 5 minute fight with the villains. Is it me or do the fights not last as long anymore in comic book movies. I was left hoping for more of a fight. The villains just dont last as long anymore. All that build up of anticipation to have it crumble within 5 mins.

Plus, Sinestro didnt DO ANYTHHING! I was hoping to watch him fight or show off his moves. The training session was not enough.

Yeah, that's why I was hoping some of the Corps would help Hal in the end. I really wanted to see how badass the writers/filmmakers could have made Sinestro or Kilowog. Missed opportunities. :cry

I saw the movie and thought it was decent. Nothing spectacular but far from bad.

On a side note, I've actually never read a Green Lantern Comic. Never really appealed to me. Could that have something to do with the movies reviews? Maybe some just dont like the character that much. How popular are Green Lantern comics compared to others?

They've been fairly popular in recent years. Around....2005? They basically rebooted the comics line. Well, sort of. They did a major shift in the story and brought Hal Jordan back from the dead, and reformed the Green Lantern Corps. Since then, DC has had two major crossover events dealing with stuff that comes from the Green Lantern universe, so if GL was a "second rate" character back in the day, they've definitely been pushing him to A-list status in recent years.

I started reading right at the reboot point and have really enjoyed the comic. It's a great place to "hop on" and start reading, and at least up to the point where I am (just before teh first of the big crossovers), the story is pretty solid all the way through.

bashing a movie nowadays is just the trend... people hate because they can. period.

I just saw it and BEING one of the most hardcore GL fans ever (my favorite character ever) I will say that I did found the movie boring at some points but not bad at all. Not Oscar worthy of course but not bad. I regret not seeing more of the GL Corps in action and that so much time was spent in ridiculous chatter BUT it was cool to see!

I dislike the Ending for Hammond as the character REALLY creeps me out and I am kinda pissed at the liberties they allowed themselves with The Parallax.

Still for as much as the movie deviates from the original story (something now usual in every GL animated movie) it was entertaining and I don't feel I wasted my money.

I still prefer the comics (OF COURSE!) way better and still think the animated movies are more of a movie than this one BUT to hate it and bash it as trash is too much.

I was fun.. not what I was expecting but it was fun.
