Great movies that you don't feel like watching more than once.

Saving Private Ryan. One Scene Specifically took me out of the movie and beyond that point I just didn't care about the rest of it.

What is with people on this forum being so quick to be defensive? It baffles me how little it takes for people to get so pissy about things. I didnt make the movie, I have no stake in it at all, I was just asking why that particular scene took you out of enjoying it. Internet warrior? About a 19 year old war movie, with some rando on the internet? :lol

2 scenes took me out of Saving Private Ryan:
The one where they're all in the church being sappy, and the one where Matt Damon tells the stupid story about his brother.
I fast forward through those parts.

I can't think of any GREAT movies I'll never watch again.
Maybe "Pi" or "Tetsuo: The Iron Man". Those were kinda disturbing, but I don't know if they qualify as "great".

When I watched Band of Brothers I really had no reason to watch Saving Private Ryan anymore. That miniseries told a better story and told it in a better way.

Well yeah, look how much they had to work with. And they had the backing of REAL heroes before every episode, plus a bunch of no name actors playing them. I love me some band of brothers, but I doubt that would have got off the ground without the success of Saving Private Ryan.

That wasn't a slight on Saving Private Ryan so don't get them all in a bunch. The only small problem I had with the movie was the small Spielberg-ism moments e.g. the coincidental explosion of the tank as Hanks is shooting at it. But that's a small complaint in an otherwise wonderful film. But the very format of a miniseries makes for great long-format storytelling which is particularly effective with a WW2 movie. It's very difficult to describe the same broad arc on the big screen unless you're talking about some of the grand David Lean films of the 60's. Today's moviegoers don't have the patience or attention span to watch that in the theaters nowadays.

Don't confuse me with the guy who is more critical of that film.
I simply found the HBO miniseries much more satisfying.
My favorite episode was Crossroads which was directed by Tom Hanks.

Maybe Im coming off as mean spirited or something, cause Im not super sensitive about this movie or anything, but Im coming across as having my panties in a bunch or something. Seriously guys, Im not trying to come off as being mad or hateful or anything. Well, the explosion on the tank was explained. And yes, I totally agree with you, the format of the miniseries is way better for the story telling. Im just a big fan of both BoB and SPR.

I agree with you, I thought for what BoB was, it was amazing, but for SFP, since it was a movie, I also thought it was really well done, and as far as war movies go, an instant classic. The effects alone are mind boggling.

I just didnt know what Axlotl's point was buy listing the credentials of the movies and the series.

I wasn't responding to you, I was responding to Snikt.
He said "I doubt that would have got off the ground without the success of Saving Private Ryan."
I was pointing out that it wouldn't have, as it was the success of SPR that got BOB made, and the passion the project instilled in both of them to want to explore WWII history and tell more stories.
I suppose I could have worded that better, but I tend to try to be succinct when I'm at work and don't want the boss to catch me goofing off.
I agree with you - I love SPR, but BOB is much more satisfying.

I remember loving it, and being upset about parts for weeks...

I think it should just be a one time watch.

Also I don't want to watch UP again... I hate when my face leaks.

I love both SPR and BOB. I haven't seen The Pacific yet.
I agree about Schindlers list, great film but I don't think I can watch that again.
Some films for me are very well made but so disturbing (Schindlers List) that I don't think I can watch them again. Other films like The Profesional (one of my all time favorite movies) are so good that I don't want them to become routine, so I only watch them every 5 years or so.
