Yes, like a short of adapter for some specific function of the flash
It could be a third-party screw in cable attachment with the cable missing.
I have a different one in a different style that is designed to screw into the bulb socket so the photographer can use the slide switch to ‘turn on’ something while taking pics.

Mine had a 2-conductor cable that went down the funnel and a Graflex 2-pin plug on the other side. I pulled/cut the cord out and I use mine as a stand-in Folmer glass eye on my ANH Luke saber.

I found pics online of the style that I have plus a different style that also goes into the bulb socket port.
