GoW Lancer, wait, this one IMO blows the other one away...

Funny you should ask, as I was planning this since I found out months ago
when the pre-sale started. but needed to wait until I had the rifle.
so I would get the size right.
For my self I was thinking of the gears of war cog logo with the skull inside and blood dripping one.
And making a two foot maybe two and a half foot 2D wall plaque
that the lancer would either hang across or just slightly under the cog.

Was planning on making it out of a thick sheet of foam sealed with a
hard resin shell mounted to a piece of MDF board I have.

My plan was to print the logo out on clear film, then cutting away all of
the clear area around the black logo. Laying the cut out on the foam
spraying the foam with any type of primer so it slightly melts the
un-covered foam. Then using my hot wire foam cutter to cut out the cog
shape and add some detail, cover with a resin foam coat, mounting the
cog to a cut out MDF cog..... you get the idea.

Now I just need to get up off my lazy arse and do it.

I also plan on sand etching a beer mug and a a tall double shot glass
with the same logo, I may even etch a empty bottle of yeager also
just because I think the cog logo with the skull would look cool etched
on a green yeager bottle.

I was thinking of doing something similar, but simpler. I was just going to cut out a 2'-3' COG (minus the skull) from some MDF, then give it a layer of bondo to cover the grain. Then sand it smooth and paint it a hammered silver color.

Hydin's right, the lack of a shoulder stock is completely stupid and incredibly uncomfortable.

Man this thing is awesome. Only 2 complaints.

1: HORRIBLE design for a gun. Has a scope but no buttstock, and all the weight is on your wrist. igh. That and the area where you put your hand behind the chainsaw is kinda tiny. So, in other words, what works as a cool drawing kinda sucks as a "carry around" weapon.

2: Package said batteries included, but they lied :(

I think I can live with that :)

So.. other than it not being a real rifle and having to shell out about 3$ for batteries, this thing is friggin SWEET. I can't wait to figure out how to wall mount it, cause this ******* is heavy! Might alter the paint job a bit, or add in some "meaty bits" in the chainsaw area. The only worse paintjob I have seen was the actual gold colored lancer.

Hell of a late birthday gift :D

Damm electric company:angry my power just went off for a second or two
and had to wait for the computer to boot back up.
I need to buy a Power WorX 3 for my house.

Time to being confused again :confused The only gold colored lancer that I know of
is the one you get with the code in the LE version of the game.

Is there another.

Never Mind, I found it what a waste of plastic. :confused :confused :confused

Started sizing my gears/lancer wall plaque
the first test was done on four tiles and would
have been covered by the lancer so I bumped it up
to nine tiles.

Yup, not the most practical design. A chainsaw? I'm sure that squad has quite a few one-handed troops now.

If it weren't for your picture, I would've never realized that the fold-out handle, on the side, slides along the length of the body.

What's the diameter of the COG? I just want to make mine a plaque type with hangers to hang the lancer from.

its around 22 inches but for the size of the lancer I think it should be bigger
I will put my hangers a bit lower then I have the lancer in the pic, if I
do not make the cog bigger

I can actually understand the chainsaw as a bayonet on steroids, but the place where you put your hand has your fingers ON THE CHAIN. I know I have giant man hands, but still, this just feels all kinds of unsafe for a gun design.

For a big toy though, it kicks 9 shades of ass :)

I kinda want a cog display (as shown above) but I haven't ever tried to hang something this big off the wall. I would rather not have my rifle crash and break, or even better, rip giant holes out of the sheetrock.

I am really looking forward to how the display turns out.

That hammerburst is STILL the best damn scratchbuild I have seen though. If I had the cash, I would be pestering you daily to lob that sucker in some silicone!

The COG display or face of the display,
I am planning is only for show, but the MDF backboard and
weapon hangers would hold the weight of the rifle on the wall

How about just take a serrated blade and have it reciprocate like a reciprocating saw or...in no other better way of describing it....an electric meat knife? :D

That would be more practical AND safer! :cool

I was a bit amused when I removed the clip
and seen that part of the chain saw took up most of the space
no real room for any ammo.
So I guess having the empty clip at that end of the
chain saw would catch all of the meaty bits
when the chain saw is used :lol

kinda going in the same direction as TK648, but this is more of a quick and dirty display. I have a big game night coming up and just wanna have it displayed.

I took the cog symbol and printed it out about 11" wide. I made 2 cogs out of foam board. Originally I wanted to replicate the look of cog tags, but I really liked the pitted weathered look. So I rough bondoed the surface. Sprayed with chrome paint and then misted with black and shot with some red for good measure. I just mounted them on the wall behind the gun.

The gun is really cumbersome to mount this way, it's on there a bit precarious. I think more horizontal would be easier.

I also found a gear prop-thing I've had laying around forever looking for a home. I kinda has a cog/gear kinda theme :thumbsup

Got mine in! Given that so many have posted pics already, I won't bother to show more of the same. :p

It will be getting a makeover asap, that's for sure. I really good repaint would work wonders for this piece oof plastic. I want to check into lighting the light blue areas as well. I'm working on a custom display as well, mine will be a tabletop display.

-B89! :D
