On another note I have tooled up our shop to cast things in pewter. Would anybody have any interest in an actual metal rocket button? (Note they might be a little heavy)

I'll see about casting a few in metal to see what they look like and post pictures. I'll have to charge more however, pewter is more expensive than cold-cast resin
I'll have to do the math and see what it'll cost me and let you know.

Well I poured the mold and will know how it turned out in 24 hours, after that if it looks good then I have to bake it for several hours.
This high temp silicon STINKS! UghHA!! :sick

I like the fact that they are light. between that and the element gun, I'd be worried about losing my pants. A little RubnBuff and they look metal anyway.

That part is done, now the mold will go in to the oven for five hours. Cross your fingers!

I've got a pewter ingot that should arrive tomorrow knock on wood, I'm excited to see how it turns out.

Well as promised here you go! Metal rocket buttons. Note however they are heavy at almost a quarter pound each.


To really bring out the shine I need some jewelers rouge and a buffing wheel. Two things I do not have. Still tho I think they look pretty good considering I've never done this before.

So I got some buffing wheels and rouge and polished these bad boys up. See below:







While I think they do look pretty cool I have to believe the resin casts are more practical because of the weight issue.

Maybe I'll make a framed GOTG diorama and put these in it with some of my other stuff
