GOTG Star Lord Nerf Blaster Repaint

Nice job. You have placed me on a quest to acquire a couple. Looks like I will be going through Amazon to get them.

Just got mine :). Can I ask what grit paper you used? I don't want to sand off the handle detail ;)

Thanks for sharing. I wasn't aware these even existed (no kids plus rarely going to stores = I don't see much in the toy department). Ordered one off amazon to work with. Should be a fun project. Recently got in some 3D carbon fiber vinyl for another project, not sure I could ever get it fitting the handle, but will give it a try.

So I definitely ordered a pair of these off Amazon as well. If you wanted to share any tips or a quick rundown of your process, I know I'd appreciate it. Thanks the pics and paints.

Well to get the brushed metal effect I spray painted everything using the paints from my earlier post, then I used black acrylic paint and I just put a small dab of it on a cloth rag. I spread it around on the rag by rubbing it around on a piece of cardboard, then just lightly scraped it side to side on the nerf parts. I let it dry, and then did the same thing with silver rub n buff instead of black paint. I got the idea from this youtube tutorial. NME Props How to do a Brushed Metal Look - YouTube

Hope that helps.

Great link. Thanks! I've already sanded my parts, I'm going to try to paint and finish my blaster pair over the long weekend!

I've noticed recently that the paint on the grip seems to be wearing off where I pick it up, so my clear coat obviously isn't doing it's job. Does anyone have a clear coat that they use to seal paint that they'd recommend?

Hey this looks great! I'm actually doing the same thing, I have one of them just about finished today. Hard to really see the details from this pic though.

Amazon should have them in stock. Mine were $22 a piece I think. I noticed the bottom cover on the gun is a little jiggly/floppy. Any of you guys correct this while doing the repaint? I'm thinking even a washer or something like that might make it more snug.

I only started to see GotG merch at my Target/TRU this week. I bought my blasters through the TRU website so I could get them quicker, but my Target had some yesterday.

I just used masking tape on what i didn't want to paint and then used a can of blue spray paint. I had to get creative with the way i used the can though, and to be honest it would have been better to use an airbrush but i don't have any experience with mine yet.

I got real lucky at my target and got the last two they had.
