Awesome built. I remember watching Adam Savage build his replica on tested every week and really enjoying those videos. My wife would tease me when she'd walking in the room and say "Are you watching Adam Sandwich making his Looney toons gun again?". And it would crack me up bc the gun did look pretty amazingly massive in Adam's hand.

It currently weighs 2kg. Which makes it a hefty beast. I’d like to make it a little lighter but there isn’t much I can do to lighten it other than drill a few discrete holes to remove some material.

He’s actually the reason I started this project. I’ve watched his build at least twice all the way through.

It's an amazing bit of machining. Truly very impressive

At the moment the release lever is the pewter lever from the replica that I got from Tiptop Workshop. But I will be making a new one out of brass soon.

I’ve been making a brass release lever today to replace the pewter one that I’ve been borrowing from a kit that I had. It still needs a bit of fettling but it’s starting to look good now.

Yes, I machined it flat then bent it to the correct shape. If you look closely you can see a small crack in the tight bend that I’ve had to solder up. I think it adds a bit of character to it .

Amazing workmanship and results

Just thought I’d make a quick update post as I’ve made a good start on the bullet casings.

I’ve got the design and dimensions that I need. I think that I want a total of 12, because I’m going to make some different ammo types.
4 clear Perspex
4 hollow point
4 ‘silver’

I’ve also thrown some parts of the gun in a tumbler to see what the final finish will be and I’m pretty happy with it.

I emery clothed it with some 240 cloth then I put it in a vibrating bead tumbler for 2-3 hours. This gave it a nice even finish. It gives it a nice feel too.
