Golden Snitch from Harry Potter (made in metal!)

I made a Golden Snitch! And since I have access to a bronze foundry, I made it out of bronze, which looks rather like gold when polished.
I started with a ping pong ball.

Draw on the lines, and start gluing half-round styrene.

All the styrene glued on. Also all my fingers had glue on them.

Make a mold...

Cast in resin.

Coat in clear nail lacquer my sister had.

Cure the lacquer.

Made a mold of the new, smoother ball.

Here it is cast in resin, painted with primer, black gloss, and gold.



And here it is cast in bronze, and all polished.




It's so shiny! And heavy!

That's amazing. As much as I love Harry Potter its always been the wands I wanted as props, until now. Now I want a metal snitch If only I knew someone who had a bronze foundry. How heavy is it?

The modelling is not neat enough for me, but it makes a great prop, the bronze cast is very good choice!
