K7 Bluebird 1/43 scale model

It was impossible to make this panel in one piece, so I made one end with brass and used wire for the other end of the panel and then filled in-between with body filler.

A quick coat of primer over the panel detail. I've also added some more panel lines to the main body, using the photos I took of the real Bluebird for reference and made a pair of brass brackets for the arms that attach to the perspex splash guards

The back of the canopy was a bit more rounded at the top than it should be, so I made a brass inner frame the same shape as the canopy for it to rest on and a brass outer frame that's more the correct shape for the canopy to meet up to.

I also made the side slide rails out of brass.
The canopy needs a clean here, as I've only just finished sanding it to fit.

The brass inner frame that the canopy rests on will not be seen when the canopies framework is painted blue.
While trimming the canopy I noticed it had two layers. Turned out there were two canopies together, so I have a spare one!

There doesn't seem to be any reason to glue the canopy in place, as it stays in position well just dry fitted, probably due to the added side slide rails.

The moulded in framework on the canopy was too wide at the back. I had to trim more off the back of the canopy to make the frame thinner, but then the canopy is positioned a little further back. To allow for this, I had to move the cockpit opening on the model further back also.

Here is the canopy positioned further back.
The original opening for the cockpit was too large anywa and also it was slightly off to the left, so that problem has been solved now.
I also made new cockpit side walls.

I repositioned the instrument panel that's mounted the the removable cockpit floor, so the panel lines up correctly to the modified cockpit opening.

I also made the glare shield for the speedometer out of brass. The brass bracket doesn't need glueing, as it grips the speedometer tightly enough so the glare shield is even adjustable.

Redone the brass cockpit framework.
The back of the clear canopy slots in, between the outer and inner brass frames shown here.
