Gender swap Captain America Stealth suit from Winter Soldier - in progress

easily the best one iv'e seen amazing!

i'm a total noob at this stuff so jealous!

Wish I can pay u to make one lol

Seriously some good works (wo) manship :)

May i ask if you use some kind of pattern or template for your materials?

I'm planning on making my own S.T.R.I.K.E suit, but i wouldn't know where to start :(

The jacket has a built in corset, so I built the pattern based on a corset base. I know the STRIKE suit has a pretty good thread on the RPF that I spent a lot of time on, figuring out all the pieces http://www.therpf.com/f78/captain-america-tws-winter-soldier-172515/index11.html

The pants (which are unseen here, since they were hard to get a picture of) were based off a basic jeans pattern that I pieces out and added pieces onto.

I used twill fabrics, since the the uniform had a definite weave. I've seen some nice ones using canvas.

The padding on the abs in amazing!
Sorry for all the questions but was that sandwiched in between two fabrics or just attached underneath?

When you made the pattern for the straps, did you draw circles with a compass, or did you use something else as a guide for the curve? I'm leaning toward cannibalizing straps from an old backpack to create the pattern template, but if there's a way I can avoid destroying an old friend to make this harness, I'd be very happy.

:$

All the padding was sandwiched in one form or another. in some areas I used a super lightweight fabric backing, and others It was twill on twill. I basically used a trapunto technique but with eva foam instead of batting or head-liner.

I cut a long straight piece the thickness I wanted and a few inches longer than I think I needed, then every two inches cut almost all the way through, and over lapped a half inch, and that makes a gently curve that you can alter and fit.

I did a quick example and took some photos

My commissioner got her costume this week and sent me a quick photo. I think she's planning on going a full fancy shoot in the next week or so... and she'll be at Salt lake Comicon. I think she looks amazing

Wow that's a killer outfit. I'm waiting to mod one from China. Is getting it on and off troublesome due to the rear entry? Or would it be easier to have a zipper in front like a jacket? Anyway the costume is awesome and the client looks great.

It is kind of like putting on a straight jacket, but I was trying to keep the front as movie accurate as possible with the back entry. No one ever said cosplay was easy :D

Thanks for the kind words!

Looking for threads for the TFA suit I came across this one and I must say everyone should go pay this girl to make them a suit. She is AMAZING, so professional and kind and great to deal with! I also commissioned a stealth suit from her and wore it to NYCC, and it was a total hit! I love the thing to bits! Belt is sitting a bit low and top is out of walk because I lost a lot of weight since I first sent her the measurements and it was late in the day and I was all disheveled heh, but here we go!
Seriously people. Go commission this girl. She's the best.

. Nice suit any contact information for the builder?

God, this is awesome. Any way I could get the pattern for the jacket? Torn between this and the AoU version

The AoU actually isn't that different, they did the striping differently on the shoulders and around the star and added in more red and white, but the base is the same. Nice way to transition the costume.

The pattern itself is pretty complex (I think it has 30 pieces?), but I might be able to help you out. Message me if you want and we'll see if we can work something out.

What a great looking suit.
It is cool that the AoS suit is so close to your original work for reproduction and future business. :thumbsup

You are too sweet (and totally rockin' that suit).

*pokes very old thread with a stick* Pardon all my creeping, imatangelo, but this build is amazing. Any chance you still have the pattern pieces so I can get a sense of how this all looks disassembled? This suit will be my first completely patterned-from-scratch project and I already feel like I'm in over my head!
