Limited Run === G R A F L E X === Flashgun Gen.2 ... now taking PRE-ORDERS!!! New Pics Oct. 5

Re: === G R A F L E X === Flashgun ... NOW SHIPPING!!!

Guys, the blade holder thing is only an issue if you're making an FX version... which I understand of course a lot of people are. That said, Roman DOES know about it, and I believe there are solutions in the works from multiple angles. Chill out... lets see what the rest of this week and next holds in store for a solution.

roman knows about it but I havnt seen any message from him to say what plans there are about it

Re: === G R A F L E X === Flashgun ... NOW SHIPPING!!!

KRSabers just posted a solution / redesign to their BH that will fit the Roman's. This was on a FB page though

Re: === G R A F L E X === Flashgun ... NOW SHIPPING!!!

I did want to let everyone know that even on my vintage graflexes, there is a 1/32 of an inch difference between some of them for hole placement.

Measurement taken by hand, not using calipers. Going to order some.

Unfortunately anyone producing in China is going to run into the Chinese New Year at the end of this month and that's going to impact production and shipping. I wouldn't expect anything in the hands of consumers until sometime late into February at the earliest. You never know, but don't hold your breath.

For sure, at least it's some positive news

Re: === G R A F L E X === Flashgun ... NOW SHIPPING!!!

We can expect to see a new Roman-specific version from Solo's Hold too.

And to people saying things like "oh, this only affects people making FX versions" - whatever. I'm confident that the vast majority of purchases are intended for FX build-out. In fact I'd be surprised if it's not over 90%.

Re: === G R A F L E X === Flashgun ... NOW SHIPPING!!!

Ehhh.... I think that's probably an exaggeration. If you're buying a Roman's its because you want accuracy. Most people doing FX versions were happy with a Korbanth, and were mostly unaware/didnt care about the inaccuracies. If youre putting electronics in it and removable bulb connectors, you're already compromising accuracy.

If you're buying a Roman's Graflex replica, you care about accuracy, and if you care about accuracy, chances are you're not gutting it to turn it into a toy. It's to make an accurate replica the way the real ones were done.

Just my 2 cents. Take it or leave it. The electronics/accurate replica debate could go forever.

I agree. I ordered a roman as I know that he cares about accuracy. However I wanted to create a very accurate replica of the most famous prop in existence. I did not want to have to purchase a special blade holder as it turned out, it's not that accurate after all. I await a reply from roman himself to see what's going on. All I see are others saying fixes, willing to make a new blade holder which I really appreciate. But I didn't want a new blade holder, I wanted a accurate replica

Re: === G R A F L E X === Flashgun ... NOW SHIPPING!!!

So if it's not a static prop it's a toy? The 2.0 flooded the market at a time when no replica's were available. Most "toy" builders dedicate just as much time and energy to creating an accurate replica as static prop builders. We just take it further with lights and sound. So when most people are done gluing on their grips and wrapping it up, we're just getting started.

Re: === G R A F L E X === Flashgun ... NOW SHIPPING!!!

I like both. :)

I like to have the prop replica and now thanks to scottjua and Roman, I have an Obi Wan FX version that is absolutely killer! Next on the list is a graflex.

I'm not debating, just observing - and from what I've seen, this is not the case at all. Not of the product and not WRT the purchasers.

Re: === G R A F L E X === Flashgun ... NOW SHIPPING!!!

I bought Roman's because I wanted something accurate to put electronics in and didn't want to gut my real 70+ year old flash.

Regardless, I'm sure everything will get worked out. The only thing I'm SLIGHTLY worried about is that I already have the SH blade holder. I guess I'll have to flip it in the JY and hope it sells for what I paid?

Re: === G R A F L E X === Flashgun ... NOW SHIPPING!!!

While it saddens me greatly I have emailed roman to cancel my order of my replica flashgun. It was a very hard decision but I feel I have to do it.
No disrespecting roman his work is superb quality and his reputation is well deserved for quality items, but I had to do it.

Re: === G R A F L E X === Flashgun ... NOW SHIPPING!!!

Is it even possible to cancel? I've already seen people try to cancel their preorders before anything was even shipped, and it was not possible.

Re: === G R A F L E X === Flashgun ... NOW SHIPPING!!!

You guys are acting Like Roman intentionally made a production facility half the globe away cut corners. I imagine the samples he got... which we all saw pics of... were SUPPOSED to be representative of what the end production was like. Given the shop's rep and past quality is SHOULD have been a foregone conclusion especially since he rejected sample after sample for revisions.

I IMAGINE (as I can only speculate since I am NOT Roman) that after this debacle he will NEVER use them again... and that probably means for any solution he proposes. I imagine he'll use his local shop where the Obis are done and bring it to everyone who's unhappy at a fair level ground.

Again... I am guessing... but based on my experiences and personal dealings with him, I would think I'm close to the mark.

Not only that but I feel like pulling out the guts and putting a blade holder in to make sure it lines up is probably not something I would think I would have to do if I received a sample and everything else looked correct. I could VERY easily see myself overlooking that.

I wasn't planning on actually putting everything together for a few months anyway, so if I have to wait for a new blade holder release? Eh.

Absolute worst case scenario, I turn it into a static ESB or TFA (or maybe episode 8???.....) to sit next to my real ANH and get something else to put electronics in.

It's a slight bummer, but it's not the end of the world for me even IF everybody washes their hands of it (which I don't believe they'll do). It's still a gorgeous piece that looks and feels pretty much exactly like my vintage and Roman has been very helpful and accommodating in all of my experience with him.

and I'll be first in line for his MPP.

Well I tried but I kid you not, on the lives of my beloved relatives, not 10 mins later I get a reply on my cancellation email that my flashgun order just posted. Have a nice day. Despite saying it was about 3 weeks away yesterday.

It's no problem, I have a plan. I will remove the insides of the roman and place it inside a graflex shop replica.. I'm quite excited by this prospect.. yes I'm looking forward to the results

I have a second bottom on order along with two conversion kit grips. I think I'm going to only use one of the kits (ANH), and leave the second bottom as is. Keep it as a static hilt with ANH configuration that can also function as a replica flash. Just need the bulb and reflector.

All the internals I am getting to use the with the TGS blade adaptor will now go in the TGS replica. But a big kudos goes out to Nerfworx and KR Sabers for accommodating the different measurments from the overseas shop. At least we know that Roman will not be using them again for the MPP line.
