Just got my shipping notice and I'm 12th on the December list. Very excited.

I Just got back from the Star Wars store at Disney Springs in Orlando. After looking at all the commercially available collectibles and how cheesy and expensive they were, it dawned on me how lucky I am to be a part of this community where quality artistic pieces are produced in small batches that are unavailable to the general public.

This Graflex project is allowing me to build an FX saber without tearing up one of my vintage flashes and that's a welcomed service. Minor flaws (if any) will be covered up or tinkered with as with any other kit project. I say be happy and enjoy, it's a good time to be a Star Wars fan!

Also, if you plan on doing a TFA conversion, as I am, you'll be covering up that shiny bottom plate with one of Roy's cover plates anyway. I'm trying to think of some ways to artificially age these a bit, like getting the light surface scratches and dullness in a few spots like an original. It would be easy to accidentally go overboard with scratching and dents, so I'm not sure what would be the best way to do it.

One tip I can suggest for dulling some of the shiny parts other than scotchbrite is covering the part in oven cleaner for a few minutes and then washing it off. I did this on my V2 pommel and it worked well, though it may work too well on some parts.

One way of getting inconsistent scratches and dings is to use your old keys. Put them on a large ring with the teeth all facing one direction. Use the teeth side and hit your hilt in random spots. Repeat until you get the desired effect.

I don't mind critical opinions, but I can't stand it when someone needs to put someone else down for expressing such an opinion. That's rampant on FB, I really hope it doesn't get out of control here.

WRT opinions/reviews of the Graflex flash gun product. It's a business transaction. Take your heart and feelings out of the equation before trying to talk objectively about it and please don't denigrate others for finding issues that some other people may not have the insight to notice or care about. Some people don't care about facts - if that applies to you, stay away from conversations between people that do.

id agree-- but I'd also like to think people will remember that this isn't a giant company of faceless corporate beings, this is one guy, who is part of the community, and while we can be all business I think it is important to remember that Roman is real person doing his best to provide something no one else has.

Also agreed. There's no point in attacking Roman personally - and I haven't seen anyone doing that - maybe it happened on FB before posts were deleted, which is unacceptable. I'm also not saying this is the correct thread to take up reviews of the product, but it would be nice to not see anyone being attacked while presenting facts and an honest evaluation, for example on FB. On either side someone will invariably take it too far and I suppose that's just a sign of where we are in the world/time (2016 has been polarizing to say the least).

Sounds all too familiar. Like when you express an opinion regarding accuracy, and you post images how my opinion is a "fact" of sort. Only to get banned from the group without warning :facepalm

Just opened mine.

Beyond impressed. So much better than the V2 runs I've seen.

My item has some scratching on the bunny ears. The stamped lettering on the bottom doesn't seem as defined as my vintage.

There's a buttonhead hex bolt through the bunny ears.

NONE of that even begins to rub me the wrong way. Its fantastic. I've never waited for any item so long in my life, and it's totally worth it.

I wonder how picky photographers were when they bought these as flash handles back in the day? ;)

I don't think those things mattered back then, just as today, when talking about the functionality. ;) Thanks for recognizing and commenting on the factual appearance, while still appreciating the marvel of the accomplishment. That's how I look at it too.
