John at Fx said he's fine with me sharing the details of the Blackbird orders that are currently being shipped. If you ordered one, you may have received it with some pieces that "let go" with the glue. My plexi case was all apart and an engine pod detached. John was most helpful, and the order went right back to him at his workshop (Fx is the company that's making the Blackbird and Viper Mark II for QMX). The solution for Fx was to scrap the plexi and build a whole backdrop for a display. As it was, when it arrived the cockpit glue had let go, so some quick Elmers glue and it's just fine. When I got the Blackbird the first time, the cockpit was sealed with tons of white "sawdust" inside.
The original design was a "flightdeck" to display the fighter on, with a few computer consoles and a crane nearby. The addition of the backdrop dramatically changes the whole thing IMO, and is just stunning. The detail and aging on the walls is something. Here are some shots...
The cockpit shown in all the shots is just being held together by its own tension. I've since glued it all correctly.
While I was upset about the initial shipment, John at Fx has done an outstanding job of making amends and going over the top to turn out a fantastic product.
Cheers,
Guy
