FUNCTIONAL Jaynes pistol possible?

Is it doable? Yes.

Sidewinder used to offer the steel parts to convert the Denix, but the Denix has the wrong trigger guard and lanyard loop.

So, you could buy that pistol, get the cylinder conversion kit (if you can find one), buy some reloading equipment, and start cranking out custom cut down .38 bullets and have a functioning Jayne pistol for about $1200 bucks or so by the time you're done.

well which one is the accurate jayne pistol?.
i know this one has the right trigger guard, but is this ones lanyard loop correct? this one is the calvary model... the army and navy model have the rounded trigger guard, however they have the "peaked" lanyard loop.... which is accurate, because taylor firearms also sells SPARE LeMat parts!!! so itd might not be too bad to swap out...

Speaking of Taylor firearms, they also sell the WALNUT LeMat grips!!!
so if you DONT feel like buyiing the real steel gun, you can still upgrade your Denix with walnut!...... well for about $125 for the grips....

i say forget spendin $400 or more on a Denix conversion...
ill just get the real freakin thing and have real grips ect!

You'll need to spend a good ammount of money just having the parts made to convert the Pietta to Jayne's gun anyway.

I looked at doing this a long long time ago. Not worth getting the LeMat Cavalry and converting it. Although, it would be kick ass.

Depends somewhat on the state, but by and large in the US the old cap and ball pistols like the LeMat are pretty unregulated - partially 'cause they predate the rise of weapon restrictions in the '30s, and partly cause they take forever to reload.

But slap in a cartridge conversion so it can shoot modern ammo, and it typically becomes treated like any other modern handgun. But gosh would it be cool. :)

Actual LeMats that fall into the "curio and relic" laws are extremely rare and cost several (if not tens of) thousands of dollars. The LeMats available for purchase today for a few hundred are current production black power pistols don't fall into the "curio and relic" laws and will be regulated by any applicable modern firearm laws in your area.

I have one of the Pieta replica Lemat's, I got it in a trade. I was thinking of converting it just for the fun of it but need quality machined parts. Any recommendations?

Any chance it's the Cavalry model (spur trigger guard, lanyard ring, takedown lever) or it is the normal Army model (standard trigger guard, takedown screw)?

If you need parts, try http://www.vtigunparts.com - it's where I got my mods from for my Denix. They may or may not have the LeMat parts in stock, but they do get them directly from Pietta in Italy.

It's the calvary model ( which I believe is all that they make ). I am interested in the machined aluminum parts.

I have an extra set of walnut grips for the LeMat if someone needs them. PM me if you are interested... same price I paid.
