Fran, my sincerest apologies.
In all honesty, this has been an "OMG THIS IS TOO MUCH AND I WILL NEVER FINISH BEFORE THEY START CALLING FOR My HEAD" type of situation. Ive never done this many before at once and im trying to ensure that I get "waves"of progress done spread out on each of the heads to make sure some poor guy at the end of the line isnt waiting for me to completely finish the 4-5 ahead of him. This would mean that last guy would be waiting 6+ months for his product and thats far longer than what I think is reasonable.
Its hard to overestimate the amount of work that goes into these. Im not bragging or making excuses, but I would rather issue a refund than rush through a head to make a deadline that would compromise quality. It could be much faster, but but miss the point of having the very best Im capable of. I reckon I spend a solid 20hrs on each one, not including the typical overnight drying times I wait for to ensure the layers of primer and enamel are rock solid before adding further layers of detail.
Obviously the trials and tribulations of life's unavoidable obligations further distract from this work, but im not about to complain and fall back on that old excuse.
By this weekend we're going to get a look at some of the custom paintjobs Ive been working on. Ive been experimenting with my new airbrush and its been working better than expected.

Hey Greg! Of course As long as the mouth is open it should be a simple install. I was goofing around with the tubing while figuring out how to keep it rigid for sculpting and it occurred to me that a length of PVC pipe could be cast into the body of the tongue, allowing it to slide over a pipe of smaller diameter....Extendable tongue! I'll play with it some more cant see why it wouldn't work.
But yeppers, all you have to do is pay shipping (should be less than $10 priority) and the tounge is free to the early customers like you who got this project off the ground.

And people are definitely waiting, more than I would have preferred. One thng ive learned is that doing a fully prepped and painted head twice a month is disproportionately easier than doing 5 at once. Ive pretty much spent every waking hour im not at work sanding, filling, sculpting, priming, and polishing.
When these are done ts gong to be a while before I offer another painted head. The prep is a killer depending on how perfect you want it.
Ive taken pics of the entire process and may post on here for those curious as to what all went into their heads. After this, im taking a break except for a few raw casts which are comparably quick and easy.

Painting has begun! Doesnt look terribly impressive right now but this is where my favorite part begins. All kinks have been chased out and the tedious work is over. I can stretch my legs and get creative and unleash the airbrush. This means we're closing in on finishing these. A few shots (I know they all look the same at this stage):

We're ready for the custom stuff now that the the general scheme is done. Now its time to get creative with the blues, silvers, greens, blacks, and even some "marlin-type" stripes. Should be interesting as each one takes on a unique look all its own.
