Foundation Faster Than Light Ship (civil version) - FINISHED

Building a 3D model of fantastic Apple TV Foundation serie. Fell in love with the ship design and the idea of a kind of singularity/black hole in the middle of the ship.
The Model will be a 3D printed kit. Also planed to bei lite up, so modeling the shape an details will only the first step on a long road…
Started with the inner ring with the windows…


and the basic shape of the ship.

I love it! I felt the show had some really unique designs with the ships. Looking forward to your progress!

I really like the design of those ships. They actually made 3D prints for the show that they scanned and then tweaked for the CG assets.

There are quit a view differences between the CGI and the physical models they made. I've tweaked and rebuild the bridge sections 3 times before I got the shape right (hopfully).

Finished the outer ring.

Determined the scale and size of the model. Will be about 15.4" without antennas at 1/500 scale.

Finished step 1: Modelling the ship.



Started step 2: Hollow out the ship in cut it into build parts.

Hollowed the inner ring segment. Thinned the wall thickness around the windows and cut the outer "grid" part.

Addon parts for the inner section are finished.
Will all lit up.

Main print parts are separated and hollowed out. Determined the mounting point for the stand, so I can in orientate the model horizontal or vertical.

Next is to figure out the registrations and locks between the parts. Also the internal construction for stabilization and strength.

Just a little update:
added lips and locks on the upper parts. Also an internal bar for stability with integrated holes for the LEDs (fiber optics) and cables.

First prints are done. Very pleased how the Anycubic Mono managed the details.
