Found Item Buckaroo Bonzai Overthruster Case

According to a (very long) article at Buckaroo Banzai: Across the Eighth Dimension the yellow dymo tape at the top / inside of the box has "HB" for "Hikita / Banzai".

I'm still trying to figure out the japanese writings. But this might help with Mr Webber's very generous offer to create the DYMO label.

It seems the other two strips of yellow Dyno on the case will remain unknown unless some non production stills turn up, dont think HD would even reveal the text.

Instead of just coming up something for the text, it would be cool to find a Kanji Dyno wheel insert and do it that way. Any fans based in Japan might be able to help with this, will start looking though. Man, if i spent as much time looking for good investments etc as i do looking for prop stuff, id only be posting in the screen used section by now. :confused

EDIT : Found the correct vintage colour and just as important, the correct size tape, 12mm
Any suggestions as what to put on them? For those who want the real thing let me know
otherwise will put a scan up when i get them.

I've asked for help with translating the Japanese characters. RPF member SPY007 has forwarded one of the screen grabs to a friend who speaks Japanese. Hopefully we will have information about what they say soon.

And Mr Webber, I'd love to be in on the Dymo tape 'real deal' if / when you offer it.

I spent a bit yesterday searching for Japanese Warning or Electrocution labels, but nothing real close to the box label.

It was only a suggestion as a fill in but i think the screen used yellow tape MAY have kanji lettering, any thoughts? Have tried to find a kanji Dymo insert wheel but drawn a blank.

Heres a couple of things while we wait for the cases, I love the DefCon box, the case looks to have similar clips to the OT case and the digital display is the same one used in the Blade Runner Spinners.

Very cool. So many great props.
Much better option than the DefCon case, much easier to make and would be a great display fully prac, could run it in a loop. Would like to know the origins of that readout panel.

This is really getting interesting.

Mr Webber, to your question about the second yellow sticker on the case, I tried to manipulate the image a bit and it just became harder to read. Anyone else having any luck?

As to the video that Professor Nikita is watching in the above screen grab, I wonder if they were just using footage they took of the jet car on location. Need to watch the movie again and see if it is just video shown in the film or 'outtakes'.

Lastly, the 'Declaration of War - The Short Form' would be a fantastic paper prop.

Keep the ideas coming.

The interior of the jet car is covered in Japanese dymo, it could be a chance.
Buggered if i can find one though.

Third page in products section, 8000Yen. If someone can speak Japanese and order me an insert wheel, i will pay all costs and include a set of labels.

EDIT Scatch that request, too expensive, unless they sell just one wheel that is.

Mixed news to report.
Unfortunately, they shipped me the wrong box. It's roughly 9" x 9" x 13". The good news is that the sales rep has been great to work with so far. I will be returning the box tomorrow and they have already shipped me the correct one. So hopefully I will have something to show the RPF by the end of the week.

There was no point in taking pictures as it looks quite like the one on the site. Just way too big for the overthruster. Maybe if Team Banzai had a whole case of them. :lol

Got the tape and played around with a couple of things, not sure on the first one though. Took the number off the tag in the Declassified featurette. You guys let me know if you want something else printed out.

Hey everyone, tristatecases.com came through for me. They got me a replacement case next day air. And folks, it looks like we've got the right case!

Here is the case with my Morganthirteen overthruster.

Lousy shot as I don't have the foam yet but here it is inside the case.

And the case with an overthruster offered here by RACprops.

For those of you looking to order one, I got this one through tristatecases.com. Do a search for item Zero - ZC 7010 Dim 4" x 7" x 4.16" ZC 7010.

Granted the handle needs to be replaced. But the latches in front, the hinges in the back, the overall size and even the odd texture on the case seem to me to match right up. I didn't notice the texture on the screen caps until I had the case in hand. The rubber gasket seems to be glued down so I guess I will be masking and painting in the next few days.

Now let's get back to the signage.
