While I am definitely understanding of him getting in over his head, talking like he was weeks out all the way back in June is not a good sign neither is it good that he took way more orders than advertised. The whole deal with Empire isn’t good either. I’d be furious if I shipped my first hand made set and it got lost. And you’d never ship that without tracking.

My torso showed up today! This thing is so smooth and gorgeous - the extra time is completely understandable (at least to those of us who have ever made anything

Sorry I can't post directly to the thread, because I'm not sure what is a good program for that anymore, but I uploaded a few to imgur- the helmet on the left is an anovos injection molded helmet and it is a hair more white and a bit more glossy - the one on the right was painted with rusoleum blossom white and the color match is great, but looks like I need to do a little more buffing on my helmet

That's great news fella. Did Mimic give you tracking information? How was it shipped? Any indication that things got held up in shipping?

Also, I'm a skeptic and pretty salty after yet another day of no refunds. Could you perhaps take a photo of yourself with the armor? Something in Iowa? or any kind of casual proof of this being with you and not in England?

I want to believe. I also want my money back.

Damn that looks good. So how heavy is it? My Phasma is 45lbs and it's fiberglass but the torso section is pretty darn hefty.

Now, there is always the chance that someone is crazy enough to care about the Hawkeyes in the UK.

That may be less likely than it actually being in the states though. How was it shipped? I can't believe any parcel that size would be shipped without tracking.

Not shocked there honestly royal mail has always sucked. This is my only defense of mimic. I've gotten other items from uk with no tracking drives me nuts.

Maybe mimic got names mixed up by list on page 1 first person on list did get armor first. Empire is like 3rd

I have no part in this thread, but I was in MIMIC's run of Indiana Jones Sankara stones (bought two sets of them) en this transaction went great. Also bought a Mars Attacks gun from him, and that piece is absolute perfection and was shipped in a wooden (!) crate! So quality wise, MIMIC delivers fantastic work.

I'm a bit afraid he took on more than he could handle with this run, and things got out of control. But I don't think it's bad will, and certainly not that it's MIMIC's intention to rip people off. People backing out and requesting refunds will probably not help, either (not that these people don't have the right to do so, let this be clear), since MIMIC does not only have to worry about the armor, but also about the refunds.

It would be a shame that someone that obviously has a talent for prop-making (maybe not so much for handling runs of this size), would be banned because of miscalculating this run. There certainly are mistakes made here, but I'd give MIMIC a bit more slack so he can make things right. Personally I'm the kind of person who happily waits for a great prop for over 2 years, as long as communication is there, and I'm informed about the progress (or the setbacks). But off course I understand if other people are not that patient.

Anyway, these are just my two cents. I hope that in the end this run turns out OK. That people are refunded, and people that want to stay in the run, in the end get awesome armor...

It is not the miscalculation on this run that is the problem.... it is the communication. If he would reply daily to PMs and update the thread here daily, explaining the delays and issues, everyone would be pacified. It is the disappearing act and hiding that gets people nervous and then they lose patience. I will never understand why sellers decide to hide when they get in over their head instead of just being upfront, honest and completely transparent. Show you face often, show your cards often and be willing to answer questions honestly and publicly so that everyone feels at ease.

Indeed keeping the thread up to date is key. Responding to each PM could be a lot of work, though. I sometimes don't even find the time to respond to PM's when I get two of them ;-). I can imagine that replying on a dozen of PM's each day is really demotivating.

Let's be clear, I'm not defending how this particular run was handled, let this be clear. I'm only looking into the "why" of all this, because I think MIMIC is able to deliver quality work. But I think he totally underestimated this run, resulting in much longer waiting times. But MIMIC stated that he still has every intend to deliver. But I think he'd better also take care of poeple dropping out and just be honest if he is not able to refund them right now (because I think that's what's going on: he does not have the funds ro refund people, because the money went into materials etc...).

In my opinion the hostility (from both sides) is really not helping to solve things... Off course people have every right to think that things take way too long, and ask for refunds, but sometimes you have to face reality: funds are just not there. In that case you can escalate and risk never seeing your money again, have the seller banned and have talent wasted, or you can try to have more patient, work something out, and have a chance of getting your money back in the end (or a nice armor). Any, everybody has to decide for himself what to do. As said: I have no part in this run, but I was happy to see a new propmaker on The RPF that came close to "Rylo quality" in the props he delivered. It would be a shame that this talent is wasted because a bad handled run, maybe some bad communication and the impatience of people...
