Hey hannay07, thank you. The painting technique was really fun to do and it is amazing and with all the different colors used it actually looks different in color in different kinds of light.

Thanks Jason...thank you for the awesome video tutorials for how to paint a bio. The technique works very well and is relatively easy to do. I like how it has turned out for my first attempt.

Small update:

Last night I spent some time just tieing up some loose ends. I did finish the tri-laser housing by installing the set screws (still need to install and align the lasers) and my main goal was to get a good coat of clear satin on it. Next up will be to install the lenses which will finish off the front of it. I think after that I will set to work on installing the lasers as I need to order a leather skiver to thin my leather to prepare it for installation and it will take a little time to get. I was also able to go ahead and install the serial number label in the nose of it. This is something I am going to add to all the helmets I make (raw or otherwise) only as a verification that I made the piece. It is intended to be a deterrent to re-casters. I will be providing a certificate of authenticity with each helmet that has a matching label on it along with pictures of the specific piece to tie the document to it. Again, all I am trying to do with this is make it easier to identify what I make and therefore easier to spot any I may not have. The labels have a hologram of the words Authentic Original across them along with a serial number that I will be able to log for record keeping purposes. This piece is serial number A231501.

Here is the completed laser housing with the set screws in place. I hope it helps clarify the adjustability feature of it.

This is just a shot of the center piece with the right hose attached to it. It is much easier to remove and install having fixed the hose to it rather than the way it was originally. I also filled in the upper screw hole with epoxy putty as I originally thought I would need it to secure the piece into the helmet but it fits quite nicely under the two pieces just under the eyes so a screw is not necessary there.

That is all for now. I will post more shots when the lenses are in place.

Yeah Ricky, I may not be able to prevent recasting from happening but I can make it easier to identify any knock-offs that may appear for what it's worth and it adds an additional level of professionalism to what I do.

Thank you Jeff, I have always kinda' had an eye for symetry so I do strive for it...no it is not perfect but that is the nature of it and that is fine.

Bryan, I have thought about numerous ways to display it but only one intrigues me enough to want to give it a try and it would still potentially block some of the interior detail. Maybe not enough to be a problem but I need to think more on that one.

Thanks Jason. All it really does is tie a document to a piece to verify that I made it. Anyone can buy the same labels I did but the numbers would not match my records so it is just another level of verification to help identify what I produce. Maybe it is overkill but this thing has in many respects turned into more than I even thought initially so I want to do it right.

Thank you very much again Clay and don't worry, you are already on the list. To mount this thing I have thought about casting a predator hand holding it as though it were looking at it from the front (or from the back) such that the lower nose of the helmet could just rest in the hand and fingers. The arm could be attached to a nice beveled edge mirror either as a wall mount or a table mount. Still trying to work out the mechanicals of such.

That sounds like a great idea with the hand holding the bio that way allowing a 360 view of the bio and also allows it to become a ornament for a table etc I like it

Jason's right, the hand idea is a good one.  Now, I'm trying to wrap my head around what "another rung or two I can add as well" could possibly mean.  I can't imagine what more you could add to this piece to make it any better (although I'm sure you have something planned).  Seriously, one of the best parts of this thread is the twists and turns it takes, and never knowing exactly what is around the next corner.  I know of nothing that could possibly add more to this, but I'm sure whatever you have planned will live up to the reputation you have earned yourself here.  I've already come up with a way to display mine when I get it (you already know I'm on the list), but your way sounds intriguing.  Might just have to get 2  .

I am glad you like the idea...I will do more to investigate how to make it happen.

I am full of all kinds of twists and turns...  My mind does a lot of thinkin' while I'm sittin', but i'm mostly just sittin'...  I just may have to break out some clay and sculpt a Predator hand for this one as I am not sure I could make one from foam...

AMAZING! ..make a master copy of that Bio..there is NO way you want that fantastic piece to end when the mold goes. Although your mold is beautiful and I suspect will last long time if treated properly and cast careful. Again ..im blown away by the quality and love that went into this Bio

Thank you very much George! I really appreciate it. I actually already have the masters because the original pieces I made from foam, fiberglass and plastic ARE my masters so I am ahead of the curve in that respect. They will be going into a Rubbermaid tub and up on a shelf for safe keeping. I know that molds don't last forever so that was one perk of the way I made the master plugs in that I do not have to create a master unless I just want to have a backup. Tonight I hope to get the lenses installed so tomorrow I should have some more shots of it to put up. Thanks again for the compliments.

- Love P2 and all the gadgets, but that hand holding the Hollywood Col. smart-disc looks goofy for me 

A facehugger grabing the bio would look awesome as stand. Something organic as opposite to the metalic bio.

Howdy Wakenvape! Starting with the foam was just a different way of doing it and for me it turned out well. Thank you for the compliments.


Update:

I got the lenses installed last night so now I am down to just 2L's... Lasers and leather. I will be starting on the lasers next. There are some things I need to sort out concerning connectors that may require ordering some parts so it may take some time but I want to do this right so I am not going to rush it as it has taken me 6 months to get to this point so what is another week if need be? I also installed the pushrod underneath the pivoting part on the center piece that pushes on the micro switch to activate the lasers. It works great. My plan for this helmet is to have a switch that turns on power as indicated by an LED in the interior laser shroud cover and then pushing on the pivoting arm activates the lasers and a blinking LED also in the same cover. This is my plan anyway as I am still learning about LED's and such. I have designed a circuit to do what I need but want to try an alternate (simpler) route before comitting to the full circuit. Here are some shots with the lenses installed.

This is the pushrod detail which is tucked away quite nicely under the arm.

That is all for now. Not a very big update but with the lenses installed it more or less completes the outside appearance.
