Foam Pelican from Halo earns me free Mega bloks halo toy!.

I remember when Megablocks were the uncool ones to have lol. This is good PR for them in regards not to just normal buyers but Halo fans too.

That's AWESOME, Familyman! I have been a fan of Mega-Bloks for quite some time. Their models tend to be more detailed than Lego and generally have a higher block count that comparable Lego models. And much CHEAPER! One of my favorites from Mega is the #9710 Ford GT from their ProBuilder Series. I think I paid less than $25 for it new. It is a BEAUTIFUL build with full interior, opening doors, hood, trunk and model-quality body panels. It is super sweet! Almost 20 inches long!

Mega bloks were crap before they got Halo, now with their success they've upped their quality by leaps and bounds. Even comparing older halo releases with newer ones you can see and feel the difference in the sets and blok quality. Now mega is near lego quality, Kreo and mega are the only lego competitor bloks i'd buy now.

You know, even though Mega Blocks did a SUPER cool thing of sending you some sets based on the quality of your foam work, I hope your son still thinks your Pelican is the best. That was an incredible thing you did for him. Besides, one advantage of the foam one is it is likely a lot easier to fly around the room than a heavier Mega Blocks one. But now he can have one landed and the other flying air support. ;)

Thanks.
Well we made it to Friday without building them, (it was hard but we did it). So tonight is the kids late night (no school tomorrow) so we are going to have a Haloe MB building night tonight. My son already told me that even though we now have a MB pelican he will still play with the one I made him and will still like it more then the MB one, as the foam one he can take outside and over to friends houses and it has 5 sound files built in And then he added even without all that he will still like it more because I made it for him.
Some people have been curious about the size of the foam one compared to the MB one, once built I will post a side by side.

Ok so some of you have asked to see a side by side of the foam pelican and the MB one. so here ya go.

My son is definitely enjoying the MB pelican, but he says the foam one has more play value, what with sound effects and the fact that it is lightweight and take a bashing. lol

being a dad who makes models is the best, eh? nice work on this...your version is way better than the official release (though obvious props to Mega Blocks for what they sent you).

That's an outstandingly generous and, if i may say, well deserved gift!!! Well done, Bud! So how did Mega Bloks get to hear of your build in the first place?

Thanks guys, Megabloks heard about it because on their facebook page they are always looking for people to post cool things thy build. So I posted a pic of my son with the foam pelican. I said 'I know its not made from bloks but I thought some people may get a kick out of seeing my son's reaction". They then replied asking me to show them more of the build. And then out of the blue I got an email through my website from Megabloks saying they loved the build and wanted to send us a little something.
