Foam latex appliances, how do you paint them?

Olive oil? I've never heard of using that. Castor oil. It is usually at a pharmacy. But using Laffo's method, it looks like you won't need it. I rarely reuse prosthetics so the castor oil method works fine for me. But if you're planning to re-use them, I'd probably go with his method.

Olive oil removes greasepaint. Read the instructions. I don't suggest you coat an appliance with anything other than ProsAide.

Expensive? What did you pay for the appliance?
Did you price RMG? They are $8.50 an ounce.

Greasepaint in small tubs maybe - $4. If you find close out or Halloween "Makeup Kits" that have 3 colors in a pack even cheaper than that. I bought 3 "Zombie" packs that had an olive green, a grey and a weird yellowy cream color in them for a buck each, years ago - almost 10 years ago. I've done 200 zombies that have used those 9 pots of greasepaint.

ProsAide no tack and regular - $15 bucks each. Will paint 25 makeups.
Spirit gum remover - $4. Will literally last until it evaporates.

Here's that cheap makeup in use - also that's me as the main Zombie - 4 days, 20 hours a day, 100 degrees and the appliance is in a bag ready to go again.

Here's a literal $10.00 Makeup:
$1 Zombie pot
$1 Latex 1oz
Toilet Paper
$3 suit and matches to burn it
$2 Karo Syrup
$1 food coloring
Contacts and dentures saved from another job as well as the powder and oil and such IN MY MAKEUP KIT I'VE BUILT OVER THE YEARS.

I have some greasepaint that is 20 years old. Used it this week in fact. You build up a stocked kit as you go along. The attitude that "this is getting to be quite expensive, and complex" is ridiculous.

Look up the $350 Bigfoot thread I did. It shows the prep of an appliance for makeup that is still in use.

It's not expensive if you are clever. It's not complex, it's how the materials work!

You're gonna gripe about the price of olive oil? Fine -- then use, corn oil, lotion, soap and water - whatever.

Give up on the Castor Oil already. Do you have stock in Castor Oil futures? Do you get paid per time you mention it?

Take it easy, dude! I offered the guy some advice and so did you. There are different ways to do the same thing. There are plenty of sites describing both these methods. The OP stated he was new at this and I was trying to keep him from trying to use olive oil as a sealer instead of CASTOR OIL. (Ca Ching$$). I didn't read your instructions to see where you mentioned olive oil because I wasn't here to get help, I was just trying to help someone who asked.
And if you notice previously I suggested he use your method if he plans to reuse the appliance.

It's a joke. Really? You missed "Castor Oil futures" as a joke?
Thicker skin honey.

Its all good. Now that we've gotten the requisite sniping and sarcasm out of the way...
--->DropshipBob: So just curious, what appliance is it that you are working on?

Laffo, geez, lighten up, why the hostility?

It is expensive, TO ME, when I hadn't planned on spending more than what I needed to for the appliances. I have liquid latex, acrylic paint and some old Halloween make-up already on hand, so I thought that once I had the appliances, that would be it.

Complex, yes, again, to me. I've never done anything like this before...ever.

I'm sorry if I said something that set you off.

JOKE. I explained it. Wasn't hostility. Going back and answering your concerns was misconstrued as well.
Do the research then.
If it's hostile to you to for me to clarify what it actually costs and how it works then so be it. It won't be the first time or the last time a joke or a tongue in cheek approach will be completely missed on this board.
I'll cry myself to sleep.

Then I apologize for misconstruing your post. It's easily done without face-to-face interaction.
