Hi guys I've been building models for quite a few years but never used a an airbrush, always rattle can. I've finally decided to buy one for a few star wars kits I have but not sure what one to get and what all I'll need for it. Any advice or recommendations would be amazing and definitely appreciated!

Really depends on budget, what you want to be able to do, ease of cleaning, amount of paint you want to lay down in a sitting (gravity vs siphon feed, etc). ILM builders in the day used the Paasche H which is a solid Single Action siphon feed brush.

I have several single and dual action brushes, but more because i like to collect them :D - If your looking for something low maintenance and reliable the Paasche H or Badger 200NH are great, and can take a color cup for smaller amounts of paint or bottles, for a good starter gravity dual action, the Badger 105 Patriot. I have Iwata's as well, and they are beautiful in every way, but if you're looking to get started i'd save the extra cash for more model kits.

Don's site is a go-to for a number of airbrush topics, troubleshooting and most of all airbrush reviews. https://sites.google.com/site/donsairbrushtips/

Paul Budzik also has some good info on airbrushing - http://paulbudzik.com/tools-techniques/Airbrushing/airbrushing_for_modelers.html

Thank you for the info! I think for right now it's going to be basic, car bodies and I have a star destroyer and falcon. After I've gotten a feel for it then onto weathering.

The first airbrush I ever purchased was Iwata Neo gravity feed dual action, and I love it. Relatively inexpensive, Amazon has it for about $52 but with the online coupon from Hobby Lobby you can get it for around $45.

Take a look at Chicago Airbrush online. The beauty of places like that is there is a ton of info, they offer a lot of combination kits, have reviews from people who really use them (not an Amazon type that complains gives a model a bad review because it came in pieces).

Once you sort through the info and see what is best for you, then you can compare prices elsewhere.

I'd throw my endorsement to Iwata, I'm still using my first that is over 30 years old.

Thanks everyone for your insight and websites! I got a master tc-20t compressor and an iwata neo gravity feed
