First official image of Obi-Wan from D+ (props/costumes discussion only)

I'm really glad I wasn't looking at the pouches on my first viewing, in fact I kinda wish I wasn't looking at the lightsaber hilts. I really love noticing details. It's a lot of fun, after a first viewing. But if it pulls me out of the story, it can kinda ruin the experience.

I don't know about you guys. But I thought it was cool as hell that in 2022 I get to see a training dual between Anakin and Obi-wan. :)
It's Christmas to me. Obi-wan and Anakin are back battling each other! Pike's flying around in the Enterprise banging hot chicks. Spock's swinging his lyrpa!

If HE is using the hilt I think he was using then I am disappointed. What’s the rule about spoilers here? We don’t use screenshots and direct talks until Monday?

With regards to the MR Sabers - I suspect its just a 'What can we get our hands on quickly/have at hand for a quick day shoot. The flashback sequence must have been a days shoot - cost must always be on a prop makers mind and they must have had some free access to MRs.

I have no issues with the flashback stuff. I mean, I get it, I really do, but for such a brief series of shots where nothing is really still for more than a moment or two I totally get why they just used what was on hand. Today was my favorite Kenobi episode yet and it wasn't even close.

I saw clips of this scene and while it was cool to see Ewan and Hayden together again, it would have been nice if the costumes were better fit to them. The shoulders lack of padding and low shoulder tucks really make the Tunics look like they're falling off the actors. This looks more in the profile of Qui-Gon's tunic than Obi-Wan's with the more relaxed Tabards.

Does anyone have a theory why the costumes differ so much from the originals (ep2)? Seems crazy that even with all the access they likely have they can’t/choose not to get it bang on right.

If they had added the shoulder pads, and pulled the tabards over to overlap at the center point it would have gone a long ways to match the originals. It's all in the details. Maybe the actors specifically said to not add the shoulder pads and to make them this way for easier fighting?

Also wondering if the blades looked shorter than normal here?
In my opinion, lightsabers haven't looked like lightsabers since Disney took over. It's a small detail that irks me. I know the lightsabers varied from film to film, but Disney Star Wars lightsabers seem like glowing baseball bats. The white part of the blade seems way too thick and the colored part illuminates areas way too much. Even in Jedi Fallen Order, which was a good game, the lightsaber didn't look like one to me. The whole added spark effect doesn't sit well with me either, and don't get me started on the changed lore where now they're basically mood crystals lol, but to each their own.

The dimple definitely makes it look like a Master Replicas Obi-Wan Kenobi Episode 2 LE. I used to own this piece. It had a gold center dimple like this, but this lightsaber doesn't look chromed. The Master Replicas was chrome, but it could also just be the lighting and angle of the shots in the show.
They had to make a dueling version with light up blade for the action shots so, mold and cast an MR and make the fx version from that?
