Firefly, Shindig swords?

Ok, I've been looking at getting the swords from the episode of Firefly "shindig".

I know Mal's is a Civil War Cavalry sword, but there are many deferent versions. Some have straight blade,and some have slightly curved blades. I honestly cant tell if Mal's is slightly curved, or not. If it is, then Bud K has one that might work. If it's straight, I'll have to keep looking. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Atherton's (or however you spell the other guys name) sword, is a fairly straight forward rapier. Unfortunately, I haven't found an exact match for it yet.

If it matters at all to you, I am of the opinion that Mal's sword has a curve to it. A fairly subtle curve, but a curve nonetheless.
 
Well I picked up One of these.

I figured it was pretty close (if not spot one) and I figured if it turned out that Mal's blade was straight, I could always cut this one off at the guard, and just say it's Mal's after it was broke. lol (BTW, the guard, and pommel are brass, they just look blue on Bud K's sight for some reason.)

The UPS guy dropped it off couple days ago. It's actually much nicer then I expected from Bud K, and it has a nice heft to it.

Now, I just have to track down Atherton's rapier.

I own that saber. I ma pretty sure it is the sword in Shindig. They didn't have much money on that show and I am prety sure both his and Atherton's sword were cheap, catalogue pieces of gossa(sp)

they did ALOT with not alot of money.....
that show did more with 14 episodes then most shows do with 7 seasons
 
Oh, no doubt. I love the show and the look and what they pulled off. Just saying, the budget for incidental props was definitely low. It's TV.
 
Yeah, I love the show, but it doesn't hurt, that they had my kind of budget. :) I probably have more props for this show, then any other, because I can afford to. :)

Really interested in both of the swords, Ath's especially. Doing my Googling now, and searching on that sword forum.
 
BTW, I joined that sword sight, they confirmed that I was approved, and jumped through all there other hoops, and then they wouldn't let me post, and sent me an e-mail saying that they closed my account. :( I did do anything bad, I didn't even have the chance to, so I don't know what the deal is.

If anyone else is a member, could you do a thread about these swords?
