Firefly Serenity Resin kit (Shiny) WIP

such a funky design, always had a love hate relationship with it; this project makes me love it! very cool to see your progress.

I'm truly amazed watching your build. You, sir, have got serious skills! :thumbsup

By comparison, I'm like a retarded monkey building models and have the painting ability to match. :lol

No matter what FOX, Universal or Qmx says ... You Can't Take the Sky from Me.

She's looking great Sigma-Ls.:cool I'm a fan of Firefly and I was very upset when the show was cancelled.

That's a lot of work hollowing out a casting, but lighting adds so much that it's always worth the effort. I can't wait to see it completed.:love

Thanks guys. And your build sure gave me a lot of ideas on how to do stuff Darph.

I did have a little time to work on a couple of things. First was that I finally finished hollowing out the grav rotor which was a lot harder than you would expect. Not perfect but most of it will be hidden in the body so I'm satisfied. Probably put 8 hours into that thing. Now that it's done minus a little sanding on the outside, I can finally complete the reactor and get all the last bits of wire and optics run to the back.

"Chevron 1 encoded, Chevron 1 locked, Chevron 2 encoded"

"Wash, if you don't stop mucking with the gravity, you're gonna find yourself roped to that little tilt-a-whirl outside that keeps our boots on the deck."

Also got my stand started. Figured the weathered brass will be good for the beat up old gal. Just need to finish getting some art together to get the plaque made for the front. Single switch for lights on the back. Going to add a little metal bit up top to spread the load some more once the initial epoxy cures.

Been awhile since I updated this but the engines are in and wired and the base is good to go. I just need to wrap up a few things on the bulb before final attachment and light test. Then I get to seal the cargo pod to the hull, finish the gears and get started on masking for the paint.

She does look like she is in flying condition.
I don't like guns, but on a shelf a pistol from the show would go well with this base.

Mmm, I'm looking forward to seeing the old girl with some paint on her!

FYI, I used a Dupli-Color steel(?) on mine and then misted some Tamiya "Champagne gold" on parts to give it that slightly brassy- antique-y look

One of my favorite shows of all time. Glad to see a model come from it. I'm not a modeler, but I LOVE this. Subscribed.

I feel the same way, the cargo hold always looked boxy to me. Great build though.

From an engineering standpoint, this is one of the few well thoughtout sci-fi ship designs. It may be a bit less sexy, but she was designed to be a transport vessel ... Just take a look at you local harbor to see the heritage of cargo ships. They're about function not form.

With that said, I love Serenity, but your mileage may vary ...

I agree with that. Unlike many other space vessels the interior of the ship is well laid out; there's not an infinite maze of corridors. However, from a strictly aesthetic point of view, i still think it looks kinda wonky.
