Read about this yesterday over on starshipmodeler.
Anyone have any more info???
They had a link from a hobby show in Japan which showed pics of a "test shot," and something about a Yavin Rebel Base diorama. :thumbsup

I had not heard of this, but it would be great news! I love the quality of the finemolds models, but the 1/72 size has always been too small for me. This would be great news. I will go hunt around and if I see/hea anymore I will post again.
Thanks for the heads up.

I found a few pics of both the regular FineMolds 1/48 model, and a Diorama version.

Thanks for the pic hosting WC!

The diorama version is supposedly a "trading kit" that needs several components to complete done by Kotobukiya. And it's 1/35th scale.

It seems from the pictures behind the diorama that the intake & laser covers will be removable to show detail.

The engines don't quite look right. They look like the engines on the inaccurate "blueprints" that are all over the place.

Still I'm excited to see more about this! :thumbsup

Looks nice but I wish they would stick with one scale. I was really fed up with all the AMT kits with the scales all over the place.

What is your concern? The X-Wing is still available in 1/72nd. These kits are in addition to that line.

Just that they already have an x-wing kit available and it was nice to have a whole series of kits where the scale was the same. Although with their pricing and the speed at which they can turn out accurate kits this probably won't slow down their release schedule at all.

So will the diorama bird just be a scaled up version of the 1/72nd ship or will they do a scaled version of the full size ship, as would be correct for the diorama?

i really hope the fact that it's a snap together really doesn't affect the detail. A lot of companies say it doesnt but that's usually not the case :unsure

When it's a Japanese company it really doesn't effect the details.

The diorama "kit" is going to be more of a toy than a model.

The 1:48th Scale has me really interested in the X-wing Kit, as Studio Scales are kind of out of the Price Range are a space issue in the house. But at 1:48th Scale it bigger and sized along the line of larger airplane models and it could be killer if it was painted better then what the example was painted.

Just depends on the final price, but at 100 to 120.00 I would so Buy one right now!

I like the bigger scale as well. And I want to get the Y-Wing, but when I get the small Y-Wing, are they now going to make the thing in larger scale too? I don't want to waste $50 on the smaller one if I can get the bigger one in 6 months

HAHA Yeah I know what you mean. I spent 90 bucks on a '79 release of the enterprise refit because it was the "smoothie" 2 months later polar lights released the big refit for 60
