Final pre-produciton Master Replicas Stormtrooper Helmet - Review

Bryan at MR kindly sent me the second and probably final Stormtrooper prototype for review. With a few paint detailing aside this will the helmet that will go into production in a few weeks.
I am impressed!

Key changes are the frown and teeth, which are MUCH better defined, and the ears that are now separate (woo hoo), and also more accurate

A shot from the rear for those fettled tumblehome fans :lol

its been sharpened up in a numbver of places including thr vocoder and also around the trapezoids, where the detaiing is now much nicer, with more curved upper edges.

Here's a comparison against proto 1 (left) so you can see the improved mouth...

...and ears (new version on the right)...

There's a few small details they need to work out, such as the painting but IMO this is going to be a superb helmet

Again thanks to MR for sending me this helmet, and before anyone asks NO I wont be keeping this one as it'll be shown off at SDCC. I'm sending it back 4,000 miles this week.
More pics on my site in the MR/Stormtrooper section
Cheers

looking good....helmet fans keep your fingers crossed

It looks like MR has done an awesome job balancing film accuracy with quality production. This helmet looks like a real stormtrooper lid should, and that is certainly not an easy thing to acomplish.

Nice work MR and Bryan

It looks great to me (mouth paint issues aside).
I don't own any MR helmets because they are a bit too much in price, but if I was going to get one, this would probably be it. :)

Agreed. The best thing MR did was to canvasse the views of the subject matter experts, so I'm glad to have been able to play my part in helping them get this to the point its now at.

I believe they did the same for the Fett helmet and it shows the company has the right attitude. Its a shame they wont be continuing with the SW range.

Cheers

Whats the SRP for this??? I dont have any MR items and would love to get one. ANY DEALERS HERE SEND ME A PRICE

Jez,
Great review! If only MR would take such nice photos to put up on their website.
I've always enjoyed your helmet page. It's what originally got me into 1:1 scale helmets in the first place. :thumbsup
Good changes for the Stormie bucket.

Looks as though I could well be in for one of these. I think $1700 is far too much though.

I think the new version looks tons better. I am now glad I ordered one. Hopefully the production peice will look even close to what the prototype looks like.

I think it looks 100% better than the old version. BUT, there still is that matter of the white lip under the black brow that I dont get...

Even $450 is a tad steep.....compared to the white Clonetrooper which can be had for $225 or so.

Still....I'd like to add one to my collection. I'd be up for a group buy!
