Fierfek's Pep Fett, custom armor, and blaster (Finally new pics, new progress 12/19)

Re: Fierfek's Pep Fett, custom armor, and blaster (small update 10/18))

The armor's just $2 plastic lowes buckets cut with sanded edges. I sure hope the mustard works okay, we'll see how it works out.

As for the helmet, I'm really not happy with how It's coming along.
I'll try to get pics up today but I'm afraid I'm gonna just quit trying to perfect the helmet and cut my losses and just finish it up when my visor gets here.

Re: Fierfek's Pep Fett, custom armor, and blaster (99 problems 10/23))

nothing wrong with your helmet, looks like a fine bucket, over all it has taken shape well, just need some finer details and smoothing but im impressed with your rate of progression, keep it up. im still waiting to see how this mustard is going work

Re: Fierfek's Pep Fett, custom armor, and blaster (99 problems 10/23))

I decided to take a break from the helmet for the time being, I went and picked up a bunch of paints and got to work painting my armor. Here you can see all the armor pieces painted up, the chest piece on the right has the mustard removed, my silver undercoat seems to have dulled out considerably and turned a bit yellow but I'm overall pretty happy with the results. the collar armor has had only a little bit of mustard removed.

Re: Fierfek's Pep Fett, custom armor, and blaster (Armor painted up! 10/24)

are you lightly sanding the paint down to smooth it out or leaving it as it stands?

Re: Fierfek's Pep Fett, custom armor, and blaster (Armor painted up! 10/24)

most of the bumps in the paint are mustard. some are visible paint defects which i plan to keep for when I do a black wash over the armor to weather it. they'll give some basis for grime build up.

Re: Fierfek's Pep Fett, custom armor, and blaster (Armor painted up! 10/24)

i've been thinking about making the suit afterwards, not accurately with everything little detail, just more of a general mandalorian set up, how much £$£$ was the suit?

if the mandalorian project doesn't pan out you would always buy a don post shatner mask and have a michael myers outfit

Re: Fierfek's Pep Fett, custom armor, and blaster (Armor painted up! 10/24)

the suit was on clearance for about 30 bucks, plus shipping

Re: Fierfek's Pep Fett, custom armor, and blaster (Armor painted up! 10/24)

Here's the armor pieces with no mustard. I removed it all and I'm quite happy with the results even though I stained the silver.

In real life it doesn't look THAT yellow on the silver

Re: Fierfek's Pep Fett, custom armor, and blaster (Weathering armor paint 10/25)

The yellowing makes it look more like rust, i like it. Don't suppose you know if there are any pep files for the standard boba armour do you?

Re: Fierfek's Pep Fett, custom armor, and blaster (Weathering armor paint 10/25)

I'm pretty sure Fierfek has pep files for some of the boba armor in his thread!

Re: Fierfek's Pep Fett, custom armor, and blaster (Weathering armor paint 10/25)

Beautiful work. Any little issues with the helmet can be battle damage right?

I an doing a death watch set. Fierfek helmet, chest, knee, modified shoulders and some other customs I made (glove tops, shins, boot tops, gauntlets).

Your thread has inspired me!:thumbsup

Re: Fierfek's Pep Fett, custom armor, and blaster (Weathering armor paint 10/25)

How do you plan to tackle the gauntlets and knees? I still have yet to decide how to do mine.

Re: Fierfek's Pep Fett, custom armor, and blaster (Weathering armor paint 10/25)

This is coming along great. Good job with the helmet so far and that flight suit looks nice.

Re: Fierfek's Pep Fett, custom armor, and blaster (Weathering armor paint 10/25)

I'm excited to display my soft parts so far! I've been weathering the suit and the ammo pouches, and today my gaiters came in and I'm excited because I think they look pretty cool. Here's some shots of the whole soft parts setup so far:

and here's a little better picture of the boots, sorry for the shoddy pictures, I'm working in bad lighting and with a sub par camera.

The knees will be a Fierfek pep he has out, haven't built that one yet but it will stay fiberglass, unless once it is built I see a way to vac it.

Gauntlets for Death Watch are more basic then the Fetts. Originally I was going to modify the Jango ones from Fierfek but I will probably just custome build them. I will use HIplastic, I think I have some .04 and .06 laying around, that will be the basic cuff. Then I will custom paper/cardstock the raised areas to fiber glass then add on. maybe a final two piece vac after, not sure yet.

Your soft parts look good, any weapon plans yet?

Re: Fierfek's Pep Fett, custom armor, and blaster (Soft parts update 10/27)

I feel like I'm drowning everyone with pictures, but I'm just so excited to show my progress. I've completed the weathering on my armor pieces with match heads, fire, ash, and a clear coat to top it all off.

I took the pictures today in the beautiful weather/lighting we're having today in Arizona.
IMG_8631.jpg

I wanted to get some real close detail shots of the weathering so I used a better camera today.

Re: Fierfek's Pep Fett, custom armor, and blaster (Armor completely weathered 10/29)

Those are nice coveralls and gaiters just to wear around. Where did you find them?

Re: Fierfek's Pep Fett, custom armor, and blaster (Armor completely weathered 10/29)

The coveralls are from LA police gear and the gaiters are just swiss army surplus gaiters they're all over the internet.
