wuher,

You've got plenty of awesome entries to the list of 80's awesomeness!

I would've added many of the ones you mentioned, but for me (and perhaps many of the community members here), they are still talked about and remembered by all (especially by people like us :p).

I know that I've mentioned many that most of our generation can remember and appreciate, but I was trying to go for more titles that I don't see discussed on the boards I visit or hear about in person these days.

The funny thing is, there is more than I care to count in your list that have been viewed in our household within the last 2 months (especially during the month of October).

Also just a reminder for folks...

I'm not asking for anybody to post cinematic gold here...

No judgement coming from me.

I'm just asking for what films from the 80's you liked back then (and even now) that many people don't seem to talk about or remember anymore. I've posted some stuff that I can't even really sit through anymore, but I loved it back then.

Keep in mind that I was born in '75, so some of the movies mentioned I didn't even really understand at the time. :lol

Anyhow, I'm lovin' the memories, so keep 'em coming!

Great lists!

Did I miss National Lampoon's Vacation?
One of my faves. I quote from that regularly.

When was "Defending Your Life"?

Hmmm. I seem to keep thinking 70s or 90s.

Hot Dog the movie... I remember that one because it was R rated and had to sneak in to see it!

American Ninja
Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo

What about "Three Amigos!" - I don't know if that's talked about, but I loved it enough that I still quote from it. Especially when somebody asks "Where is everybody?" I answer with "I'm still here El Guapo!"

Defending your life was 91 or 92 - great Albert Brooks movie but Rip Torn steal the show. "That's just what little brains do." "What are little brains?" "That's just a nick name we have for you people."

First one that came to mind was 3 o'clock High. I guess because it is on on demand right now. :lol

Excellent movie!

One of my other favorites-
Explorers

We considered most of those movies to be really good(or at least fun).
But the critiques were savaging them, said they were horrible, intelligible, etc, etc. Studios lost money, most of the named films considered flops. Or at least called cult classics, sleepers, code words for these films are never going to get a decent return(at least until they found out they could make money selling/renting these films).

Now a lot of these titles are worthy of being remade. It's interesting to see how much things have changed.
