Still playing with the CarveWright and the new 3D object import application. This model came from "birdman" via google 3D warehouse. As pointed out elsewhere, this is far from being a high detail carving tool...but as a fast prototype tool for roughing out a model, or making a buck...I think it'll be great.

Some details: the wood is pine. Each side is about 9" long (undersized, I know). It took a total of 3 hours and 30 minutes to carve. I think I could have shaved that time down to less than an hour with more careful prep.

I'll post more when I get it glued up, and painted.

I think the machine is running about $1600 right now..the software for 3D is another 300. I bought the machine to do carved signs and this was an added bonus.

Just watched a video on this machine, very cool
Renshape carving board would work very well in this machine
as it comes in different sizes and densities, it also cuts and carves
very clean.

That looks pretty cool!

Renshape is awesome - but at those speeds with wood router bits it'll make a lot of fine airborne dust. I have a dust extractor running near my router which sucks up the suspended particles to stop my workshop and my car getting covered in fine pink dust.

Is there any way to fit carbide endmills in the carvewright and slow down the spindle a bit?
