...you could use the ABS boxes used in the Farnsworth/Claudia version.

Anyone know where they got the box for Farnsworth's Farnsworth? I'm mocking up the electronics in cardboard now for a sense of scale until I raise the cash for some of the other pieces. I can't imagine that the box could cost more than the $40ish that the other tins cost (arghh).

Im going a bit crosseyed looking through the thread. Could some one point me to where we nailed down the spacing between jacks and their position. I could eyeball it, but would rather not

I just took a crack at figuring this out.
the center of the plugs should be from the bottom of the box 1 1/4" and 1 3/4".
Looks to be centered but that may cause difficulties with the nut on the back getting in the way of the face plate, so either leave the nut off and just glue in place or file one side of nut to allow space for the face plate.

Anyone that has already put them in can give their input on the matter.

I thought you might enjoy some pictures on my Farnsworth that I finished today. Well .. almost finished. I forgot to paint the middle knob. Will do that tomorrow

Was there ever a picture with actual dimensions on it? There is the line drawing that was used for the faceplates to be made but I don't recall it having dimensions. Just scale everything from the 3" hole for the screen.

It looks really good. Well worth the effort. What method did you use to age the faceplate and colours for the box?

I see in the last episode screengrab that the extra eyelets from Claudia's mods are quite visible.

Picked up an old tube tester last night for the push button,(sweeet!) and will start "aging" the faceplate tonight! I'd love to have this completed before my brass reel arrives for my Tesla gun!

While looking at the Wheatly site at the assorted boxed I hit upon a theory.
The Farnsworth with the rivets in the corners was more than likely one of the Clip Boxes in the 1300 series.
They have rivets holding the clip plate in the corners.

They probably found one of each while looking to do the props so just removed the clips inside, probably also explains the look of an added plate.

Well it may be another box but the theory is sound.
The 1600 is 6"

I was wondering if anyone has thought to use a PDA or such as the farnsworth electronics?? I am in the beginning stages of my research to see whats out there. I was thinking that if it could be done with such things then it should be possible to have video capability and such, plus with all that computer type stuff the farnsworth "ring tone" could be used. Like I said I am still trying to gather a list of possible ideas to make a semi functional farnsworth. Please if anyone has any thoughts on this I would love to hear them. I would love to build one but money is tight so maybe if some one bets me to it I would love to see pictures and a WIP. :confused :confused :confused :confused

Not sure what a WIP is. Is that like a WHIP? Oh wait they have different forums for that sort of thing.
