i keep going bacxk and forth on whether the brown on the case has a matte or glossy finish. The flash shot from Wired looks glossy, but most others look satin matte...really annoying when the props arent consistant each to each

Why not go for semi-gloss.

I got my box yesterday from the source. Took about a week.:thumbsup
I also found these older jacks, they seem to be a little smaller than whats in the parts link but look closer to the size on the prop to me. They have the slotted nut but mounted backwards it looks good. I can't tell if the original has a front mounted nut or rear. Well at least i'm on my way now. Here is a pic.

could these be used for the knobs? which would be best?

I think a rotary switch would be better for the middle knob than a potentiometer.

a rotary switch would give you that kind of sectioned off click type turn right? where the other is a smooth turn all the way around.

This project is looking really wonderful so far. Once we get some word on the face plate i'll be tryig my hand at one of my own. I'll be VERY tempted to put the innards of a cell phone in one all wired up to use as an actual communicator XD

Word from the machinist today, said they should be ready by early next week either monday or tuesday, then its off to the laser engraver.

Here's a couple of shots from "Implosion". Am I counting two props - this one (with rivets and a dent in the top) and one without rivets?

Thanks for doing the face plates K!! The news is great.

Anyone find any better shots of the side jacks on last nights episode? At one point i swore i saw a jack with a nut on the outside.
