Fallout New Vegas: NCR Veteran Ranger Finished! pg 8

if i were, i would be making a mold of the mask and slush casting it.
it took me a long time to build the actual shape, and it's not something i would want to repeat every time someone wanted one, without getting more money than is actually worth.
if you want to discuss the slush cast, lets take it to PM, as most mods frown at openly discussing this stuff outside the junkyard.
i've made a similar mistake before. :)

On page 4 on your 12-10-2010, 10:36 AM post. What kind of plastic did you uses and how did you assemble it? I am referring to your "camera Box" and "ear piece".

I found this thread by searching for reference images to do this exact project. I'm surprised at the sheer lack of people who have or are doing this project.

I had already decided on the foam floor matting based off what I saw Harrison Krix pull off with his N7 armor build however I'd been trying to figure out how to actually fab. the armor. From what I've seen, and based off my first attempted mockup, the way you built the armor is probably the best route to go.

I however am also working on an Anti-material rifle prop.

You said you worked on this prop over about a month, out of curiosity how much of that time was spent on actual fabrication? Was it pockets of work on weekends and afternoons or long stretches of work with periods of rest and planning?

camera box and ear piece are a mix of sintra and styrene. black is sintra, white is styrene.

yeah, Volpin and EvilFX's armor are what made me determined to use the same technique to make my armor.

i know what you mean about the rifle, that was my plan too, but i didn't have time, and i realized if i done that, ALL of my costumes for this year would be snipers... which is a little too much.
actual fabrication?
i have three days off per week, so i would pretty much work most of those three days a week on this project.
started a day or two before i started this thread.
ended on the day of the con.

I noticed the black and white in the pictures. I see you glued the pep to the black stntra and cut it out. Did you use a heat gun or super glue to assemble it? I read you do not like to us chemicals that melt plastics, I agree with that judgment.
I'm with GreyedPhoenix, I like to make a sniper rife for my guy. In the game NCR Veterans rangers have sniper rifles is all they have aside from the side arm.
I love how you did the the costume it look very professional (I can't remember if I showed my respects) Basically trying to follow your footstep with my own twist. I'm get ready for Animazement and Dragon*con, I have a good time table.

I'm going to have to decline but thank for for the offer I will try to manage by your picture I have a pretty good Idea of how you did it.

This is my current mockup of the rifle and I'm running into an issue of how I'm going to attach the rifle to the stock I've made.

I've considered drilling up through the stock and bolting the breach assembly down to the stock itself, as well as using something like hose clamps to bind it down to the stock as well, and ideas or suggestions would be nice.

As for the armor I'm thinking I'll make a couple of mockups in cardboard with cheap duct tape before actually going ahead and using the matting. Probably use the practice mockup as a pattern for cutting the foam too.

errr a heat gun OR superglue? i used both when building this costume.
glue to glue and a heatgun to shape things.

Dude great armor, I'm actual gona try and make this armor myself (which is gona be hard because I've never made a costume in my life before). Hey question were did you buy the form for the body armor, I have no idea where to start looking.

K-mart or Wal-Mart would be a good place to start. I was browsing mine today and found they have EVA foam mats in the automotive/home section.

i'm pretty sure i've said this in this thread before, but harbor freight is where i got mine.

Hey thank you for the help and sorry for making you repeat yourself (guess I should pay more attention to the past posts before asking a questions huh :confused)

Kommissar, the foam with the Plasti-Dip coating is safe to use normal spray paints over the top right, r can that eat through the plasti-dip and foam?

probably, but it's all good. good luck with your build!

normal spraypaints should not eat the foam in the first place..
best to use a small piece of foam as a tester, always.

but i've not had a problem with the plastidip or other spraypaints that i use eat my foam.

I found your Anti-Fatigue Foam 1/2' at harbor fright. I bought some at my local one today. So how did you secure it to the other piece of foam? I read alot of your stuff and I haven't found it yet. I know that you cut with a band saw, round it with a belt sander, and formed it with a heat gun. Im thinking like ether 1 or 5 minute Epoxy to secure it. Also It look like the strap you used is a part of supersedes.
