Ok. Didn't quite get this done yesterday, so I figured I'd wait and post pictures once I'd done it right.
Got a few things done. Finished the hole in the beard - check it out.
So that's finally wrapped up. Just a few detail plates left up front. You might notice the bottom fin's gone - but I'm redoing it, adding to the shaping on it. No corners being cut on this one, pardon the pun.
(I've been doing a lot of balsa cutting, lots of corners. Ha ha ha...)
This has been the major thing that's kept me busy this weekend. Though this won't appear on the production model, my personal wooden master has some moveable parts. First is the action, functioning as it does in-game.

This is just a simple friction-fit pin system, but it does the part. It's pretty neat, I believe.
Some of the more astute of you guys (or those familiar with this thing...very familiar...) might see the main subject of the next update. It's another moveable part, and this one is a very important part...

That's a kitchen table and chair, for scale. This thing is massive.

The trigger.
This assembly has been in place for a few days, but I only just figured out how to get the trigger to work properly today. Here's the best part, though.
At equilibrium:
"Firing position."
The best part is, it's spring loaded, so it bounces back once pressure is released. The entire strip of balsa moves back and forth, and is attached to a hidden spring and screw in the grip section. It's entirely sealed, and it works just like a real trigger.
This is looking like an AER9 more and more every day. Only finishing work left now.

Now, this is pre-weathering, so don't worry about that. It's just to give people an idea of what a painted up one will look like. I didn't care too much about this paintjob because it'll be destroyed in casting, but you can get the idea.
