Factory Entertainment Noisy Cricket

Got mine yesterday. Number 48! It's a very nice piece. Looks like the blue effect is from the LEDs themselves, so people wanting to change will either need to use a colored transparency or swap out the LEDs.

All in all, another satisfied FE customer here. Hoping for more MIB stuff!

I think FE are basing the future of the MiB line on the Noisy Cricket run. None of the other stuff has sold out yet, though I assume it has been doing well. I will be seriously bummed if they don't do an MiB1 neuralyzer. That is THE quintessential piece for me.

I had thought I had heard they were doing the MiB first movie neuralyzer. Has that changed for FE? I had also heard they were contemplating a slide action pump MiB weapon as well.
Would love to see them pick up the third movie props as the other company has fumbled the ball on those.

For the residue on the guns, I wipe mine with a semi damp cloth and then handle them with a jeweler cloth when popping them back on display. The sweat from your hands will eat away at the chrome finish over time if it is not properly cleaned. I never use any solvents on such props.

As for the stand, it sits straight for me. There's a little notch at the bottom where the cricket's "hook" in the trigger guard goes. That should straighten it out

yeah mine sits in the little notch, but doesnt sit straight. might email FE about it tonight.

Just got mine. Love it. The hammer was a little stiff to begin with, but loosened up after a few goes. No residue or other probs at all. Very nice, solidly made piece. I'm really hoping FE keeps the MIB replicas coming as well.

We actually have had this happen a lot at Toy Fair and SDCC - It is sort of a difficult stand to figure out (Not being sarcastic - Like 9 times out of 10 people dont get it in the stand right at the shows)

Shoot us a pic over email - You can send it to me directly (tyler@factoryent.com) Ill get back to ya

# 98 in the collection for the cricket.

The day is finally here! Let's take a look at this puppy!

The Noisy Cricket! A replica that I used to drool over when Icons looked to be in the planning stages to make one. Now that we've gone through so many replica companies that have tried to tackle the MIB license, it's now fallen onto factory Entertainment to deliver the goods. Will this iconic weapon beat the bar that was by their own J-2 blaster? Let's find out.

Build: This was unfortunately the first part of the replica that jumped out at me since it was very conspicuous and all around noisy. The pull back hammer is very wiggly and loose when in it's off position and barely feels more tight when pulled back. Moving the Noisy Cricket around makes all kinds of ding noises and it's disappointing that the hammer wasn't fitted in more tightly. Everything else is very top notch especially the trigger. I was a little worried that the trigger guard would shake around due to the size of the piece, but it feels very solid. While the trigger itself wiggles a bit in all directions it still feels secure and pulling it gives a nice feeling of resistance to push it back.
5/10

Quality: Top notch all around. After showing this baby around my workplace, everyone was impressed at how much weight there was to this piece. There are some areas where the chrome plating isn't perfectly flat, but that can easily be overlooked as just part of the material it was plated over. The plastic grips are well done and fit nicely onto the side.
8/10

Special Features: Probably the most controversial part of the whole replica is it's light and sound mechanics. Many have said that the prop is had this green tubing thing inside of the grill (like a garden hose), but I actually like the direction Factory Entertainment took with the Blue LEDs. The way they turn on one by one as the Cricket noise starts up is always a pleaser, and the flash when the trigger is pulled is an excellent touch. About the only downside of this system is the "discharge" sound that's used when the trigger is pulled. It sounds exactly like a Neuralyzer discharge only with the last few seconds cut out. While watching the movie, I did notice that despite it's multiple uses, there was barely a discharge sound to the thing at all, so I'm not that bothered. At least it doesn't sound out of place.
9/10

And the replica's overall score is a
7.5/10

If the hammer didn't shake around like crazy and make a lot of noise, this would have easily been a 9/10 replica. Despite that big flaw, it's still a well made replica with a great fun factor in it's electronics. Definitely will be keeping this one. I'll most likely 'very gently' put in electric tape in the hammer housing to make it more stiff. I just can't stand that noise!

Question. Does anyone who has a Noisy Cricket have their hammer this loose? I thought it was by design, but after seeing some comments that their hammers were too tight, I'd thought I'd show what mine is like for comparison.

The hammer on mine is not loose at all. When I first ****** mine, it took a lot more effort that I expected. It was quite stiff (no gags you lot) !!

Not only does it require a bit of force to pull the hammer back, but there is zero play from side to side either.

My payment plan just wrapped up and goodies arrived at my door. Amongst them was the Noisy Cricket. I now have all the FE MiB products. They are so shiny. :lol

I am pleased. Despite it not being totally screen accurate (green vs blue, sounds) I find it to be a really nice piece. Mine is tight with no loose hammer. Action is smooth with no slop anywhere. Sound is just loud enough without being distorted. Personally I love the 'cricket' sound with the hammer ****** and the sequential LED's. Very cool effect.

I have another cricket made by an astonishingly talented person here on RPF (not unobtainium), and comparing the two, I like them both equally. With the limited amount of crickets out there, and FE currently the only one selling publically and commercially, can't we all just get along and buy one? :p

I'm all for screen accuracy, but the blue vs green doesn't bother me enough to make any changes.Would I have liked to see green? Yeah, I would since my other one has green but no sound or cool LED chaser. It's slightly distracting seeing one blue and one green, but they are equally nice to have and look at.

FE makes me happy.

As for the Blue LEDs not being screen accurate Vs Green... this is where we stand...

The MIB (MIB part 1) Cricket has NO electronic function, period. The real prop does not light up in any way - Just watch the film and see the cutaways every time it fires. As for the green... If you look closely that green plastic is a chunk of translucent green garden hose. We looked into replicating it - But couldnt get it to look right, and it looked AWFUL when it was backlit - - - So in keeping with our other MIB replicas, we went with a cooler blue color, which is much more visually appealing than the hose piece was...

As for "screen accuracy" its a toss up - True screen accuracy would be a cricket with ugly hose that didnt do ANYTHING... I know a small minority of collectors might want that, but we wanted to make something that is fun to "play with" as well as be accurate...

That's a solid choice in my opinion! Love the look of this. Have wanted this prop since I saw MIB in theaters.
