F/X stormtrooper helmet

I know the general consensus about the helmet, but its my first, and Id rather put this together first and then try to tackle an AP. I have it test fitted together right now, the ear caps screwed in and the dome just resting in place before I glue it. I noticed that it doesn't sit flush on the right side facing me as I look at it. The dome has a gap between itself and the front and back. I dont know how to apply the ABS cement, so can I use hot glue to tack it into place so it sits right, then use the ABS? or do I have to use the cement and hold it in place by hand for 24 hours so it sets? I know that the abs cement melts the plastic so im really scared of using that first and ruining it.

Just be sure not to use too much ABS cement. If it's the kind that comes with the swab applicator attached to the lid, just brush it on to the areas that will connect. Just make sure you're not gooping it on and that none will squeeze out and onto the part of the helmet that is visible.
If you have some spare pieces of abs around, practice on it first so you are aware of the properties and effect of abs cement.

My suggestion would be DON'T use the ABS glue in the kit. Get some CA or fast set plastic welder. 24 hours is a LONG time man...

I havent used it yet, but I picked up 5 minute plastic weld perma oxy at my auto parts store. Then last night and today I started painting the frown with humbrol grey number 5, I painted the flat head screws for the ear caps, started painting the intercom cover things and I cut out two small circles of mesh and glued them into the aerators(sp?) that come with the f/x kit, to try to get more of a movie feel. Hopefully this week I can get the painting done, the lenses glued in, and window screen put into the frown. More then likely tho I wont work on it again until this weekend. Ill try to post pics if anyone is interested.

I have to see if our new-ish digital camera and software are compatible with our almost ten year old old computer now that the new computer is broken again.:(
So far Im not thrilled with liquid mask and humbrol grey number 5...I think Im doing something wrong. I think I have to strip the paint off of the frown and start over again. So far all Ive done right is placing white screws in the earcaps.
