Explorers Thunder Road 1:1 scale build

Next up I'll share the info on the trash can. For a long time I searched the internet for the accurate trash can that matches the one on screen. I previously had a 1960s witt as a placeholder. The screen used can is also a witt can, but from the 1940s. These cans are pretty hard to find and there's different sizes and details on each one, I looked at a lot that looked nearly identical until I would notice one tiny barely noticeable difference. (Rivet spacing, the flange at the bottom of the can and overall size of the can) well I got super lucky and found one about 2 hours away from me on marketplace that was an EXACT match for the can in the movie. So I made the trip and brought it home. Keep in mind the can in the movie was painted silver (for some reason)

The movie can:

Thought I'd post on here again with another progress report on the ship. Over the winter she was wired up and continues to take shape. A lot has been done even though it may not look like it and It's well on its way to being a complete Thunder Road.

HOLY **** how did I miss this thread until now!? Explorers is one my top 5 all time favorite movies growing up. I used to watch it all the time and I still do from time to time, or at least have the soundtrack on vinyl playing in the background. I have been waiting forever to see someone build a faithful recreation of The Thunder Road and you sir, just made my day! It's absolutely beautiful. I am so happy to see this finally being done, and done extremely well. I'm loving all of the progress and detail pics of the real parts used to build it. This is so fantastic. My 10 year old self thanks you very much. Where do you live? I have to come sit in that thing when it's done HAHA.
