Longer second stage in the legs if i recall too Julien, remember Allan finding that out on the C600 cuts?
In any case, yes a great model can be made by ANY of the armatures for sure, id not part ways with mine even for a new one, as it was the Guinea pig for what was to come.

Lee

I thought there was a fifth guy for the V2. :$

Julien, yeah, man, if you helped out with the later revisions of the armature...then thank you as well! I was just going off of the names on the blueprints.

Felix, I'm glad you stepped out from behind the scenes, brother! It was hard for me to hold off on naming the amazing talent behind this V3 armature! Now, I need to get of my a$$ and start building the head and hopefully fall somewhere in the ballpark (hell, I'll settle for the parking lot of the ballpark) of the great builds before me...including Guy's. I cannot stop admiring the pics of this armature!

Guy, it looks like you'll be getting your skeleton before I get mine. I cannot wait to see your progress on it!!

Yeah you're right ! I'm sure Allan is still finding some more areas to improve lol

Yeah any of the armatures are great even if I would have prefered personnaly to get a polished one ! :) It takes less time to scratch the surface for paint prep than polishing the rough sandpaper-like surface of the V2 :lol

WHAT ?!! Q removed my name ?!! :behave Lol no problem Joe :)

This blueprints sheet was a nice touch, thanks Q ! Maybe I'll take it at the meet and display the walker on it ?

Aw, crap, I may have gotten myself in a bind here! :D Ummm....yeah, let me check those blueprints again....hehe! :)

ok...
trying not to get offended, but I did put some energy into the V2 so I'm a little sensitive when it comes to her. i never expected her to be perfect, but didn't think she was that bad.

as for the surface texture, i don't remember hearing this much grief when it was first produced. i don't really remember doing it, but looking at her beside me now, i can tell i took some sanding to this texture to smooth it out. i'm pretty sure i didn't take a file to it, but likely 200 grit paper....and now it has the bite of something akin to 450 grit paper. as for the V3, (and please don't take this the wrong way felix) look at the "lateral thigh" piece (first leg piece adjacent to the chassis). i can clearly see milling circles on that piece. these pieces are milled...not laser cut. thats kinda par for the course to my knowledge.

as for there being improvements ?? Joe, did Allan help you in any improvements from the V2? I believe Allan shared (and I incorporated) improvements of the V2 (call it V2.1?) AFTER the V2 armatures had been cut. these improvements likely got to Joe (from my memory).

looked back at all the drawings for the armature. the last i did (a version for wonderfest that had the TESB logo on it, and slightly rearranged) had Allan,Jason,Lee,& Julien's name on it. version before that (I gave to Joe) only had Jason and Allan's name on it -- i'm a little confused why. I'm not sure if I stopped in the middle of revisions, or what my reasoning was. sorry. but revisions before that had the previous 4 mentioned back on it..?

oh...julien, as for you using the print at a show...let me send you the latest one (wonderfest one i mentioned)...think it looks a little better, imo.

Q, the V2 is awesome, and you have nothing to do with the texture of the parts ! All the work you put into it is incredible and the result is just perfect for me !

But yeah, I wasnt very happy to spend several hours to clean the edges... Wasnt hard to do, just long (I quote myself, post #21 of my thread :

I worked a bit on it, I dressed the chassis with kitparts. It was really fun !
Ive also cleaned up the hero leg (took me 2 hours... :angry).

But I think it was just in comparison with the ROTJ armature, I had no clean up to do on it, on the other hand I had more work to spend on other areas (square the cutouts etc).
That's not a criticism, I just would have prefered to have smooth edges (maybe not polished). Sandpaper fixed the problem yeah, I didnt used any file for that !

Anyway Im very happy with this armature, I had no design problem (the anckle was easy to fix).

Thanks for the offer Q, but I think I can use the old one ? I dont think there's the TESB logo on mine but should be OK ?

Who said she was bad Q? Nothing wrong with it at all, just a few niggles, that dont seem apparent on this V3 is all. Ive seen close ups of both and quality wise, Flixen edges it out.

Lee

I swore I only saw Allan and Jason's name on it and I knew Lee helped. Buuuuttt...looking through my emails....Quincy did mention Julien at one point...so my bad!!!! Julien, you are my hero as well!!!! :)

As for corrections...doh...I'll have to look back on my notes for any corrections I may have gotten or known about. I couldn't find anything in my email or pm's except Allan mentioning that he and Q revised his original drawings. The only correction I can remember was Allan's advice about adding 5mm to the back of the head. I'll check through notes later, though. I hope I didn't drop the ball!!!!!!! :confused But, quite honestly, I was dying for a V2 when it came out and would definitely have been very happy even with any minor "discrepancies".

As for the texture...I personally could care less. It does look awesome shiny, though. Textured or shiny, it's gonna hurt painting it either way!!!

Joe

Fellas, fellas. I think we can all find some common ground and agree that no matter who did what on the blueprints and drafting and machining, none of this would have been possible without MY pics? NYAAAAH! :lol

(seriously though, you guys took things to such amazing new levels with all of the armatures, I feel so honored to be a sometimes-cheerleader, sometimes-contributor in these projects!!)

Seriously though, it was a huge colaboration, that bore fruit for a change heh!
Was fun to muck in with all you guys, though, its still sad so many of these became paperweights!

Lee

Very nice job. :thumbsup I can see several revisions.

What is the thickness of each of the 3 main leg parts (upper, mid, lower) on the new V3?

Its landed, sadly I feel way too ill to be reviewing it for Fixen but will as soon as I'm on my feet. It really is stunning though and is already in a pose to die for.

Felix, your are a legend mate.

Thanks for the compliment!
I'll send u a PM regarding the AT-AT armature.

Edit: your Message storage is full, couldent send the PM.

You did an awesome job ! The parts looks awesome, I'll commission you to make the AT-AT parts I cant make myself if you're OK ! :) :thumbsup

Forst i have to say thank u very mutch for letting me use your plans!!!
And thanks all of u how worked on them!!!
And I Hope i dient offend u!!!

All i whanted is an armature for my self.
To be honest, i never checked which version of the plans i had.
So im a little confused about witch Version is witch. I guess my Parts are a Version 2 as well. I. Made only minor changes to it, and only because couldent to it the other Way.
Regarding the finish, i dont have access to a lasercuter. That's why i used a cnc mill. :)

Any way sorry again.
